Toyota sales off more than GM or Ford

Mexican factories are younger and therefore more modern than older factories in the US. In the same time Mexican factories are staffed by much younger and generally better educated people.

And they also work way cheaper than the UAW/CAW equivalents. Which equals lower production costs, and SHOULD equal lower prices.

You are a curious concoction of contradictions.

In some posts you're just as proud as a new parent that Toyota is here building trucks in America, then you compliment a domestic like Chrysler building trucks in Mexico.

Is it basically you like anything but a Domestic truck built in the USA:confused:

No kiddin'.

That is true too. My point was that younger better educated work force working in newer more modern factory will produce better quality product.

The biggest thing you guys aren't mentioning is that the Mexican government basically has no enviromental or safety regulations, so their painting proceedures are much better/easier/faster. They're not forced into using paints with VOC regulations, etc.

The VOC requirements put me out of my hobby business of Restoring Antique Cars and Machinery... at least until I move...

In Mexico, you can build just about anything you want, any way you want to build it compared to the over regulated USA.

Not necessarily true. I was buy the Honda Plants a couple of weeks ago, and did NOT see the employee parking lot loaded with Hondas. If they like it they will buy, if they have other preferences, they won't.

I don't mean buy the vehicles they are making... take ownership of the quality leaving their process. In other words have pride in the work they are doing. This is a fundamental practice for lean manufacturing.... having high skill workers that take pride in their work... thus they have ownership of their process (assembly).

They probably can't afford what they build cause they work so "Cheap" and their product is so high compared to their wages!!!!

You don't have to be a "skilled worker" to have pride in your work. I have workers that dig ditches for me that take more pride in their work than some mechanical contractors I've hired.

Hiring "skilled workers" to do assembly line work is just overpaying for skills that are not required.

What you want to hire are workers that take pride in their specific task, be it rattling lug nuts on a malibu or bolting a seat into a F-150.
