Goverment buying up old tractor

I was talking to a guy my son works with ,him & his dad do alot of hay baling they have two older tractors ,the goverment will give them $45,000 for each tractor ,they have to knock holes in the blocks so they can't be used and have to buy new tractors.They are buying two new JD.100HP ,4wheel drive,cab &a/c, fel for $125,000 less $90,000 for the old tractors thats $35,000 for two 100hp tractor.

I wouldn't knock the holes in the blocks and THEN wait for my check. I'm assuming this is like Kalifornia buying commercial trucks then paying owners (with OUR money) to buy new, "clean" trucks?

not doubting what you were told , but i would like to know where this could be confirmed. puting a hole in the block DOES NOT render the tractor useless, just needs a new block and you are set to go!

I'm good to go , i'll kill my engine with a .243 no problems

. I hope they get that clean green idea down here where we have Velcro on our boots .

Sure sounds fishy to me.. Please post a link to the government program describing this deal.

If you look at it from the quantum perspective, the size of the nucleus when compared to the distance between atoms is about the same as the comparison to stars and the distance between them. Isn't that enough of a hole already?

He said you can't keep the old tractor you have to it take to the dealer where you are buying a new one ,the dealer has to destroy the old tractor.I think this for large tractors over 60 or 70 hp. I will try to call him next week to find out more about the program. Here in Texas the state will pay $3000 for car or truck 1995 and old to buying a new one, if it has pass inspection and been registrator for the year before.
