Where can I hang my ramps?

If your back is bad , you really should think about buying a Tilt Deck trailer . With the flick of a drawbar catch the tractor is ready to unload , the weight of the reversing tractor will allow the rear of the trailer to touch the ground . When driven back on the trailer comes back down and locks in place .
Could ramps be used with a tilt bed trailer.
I can also see where a wench could be handy on a tilt bed trailer.

Thats how we usually made ramps for the 5 to 10 ton trailers, at my former employer.

Just with the difference that we preferrably used a stainless steel 1" stock, because it is hard to keep paint on it.
Also, we welded an extra support in the middle of the slide distance, inbetween both sidebeams of the ramps. This way the slide travel of each ramp, was just a little under the width of the ramp itself. That was more than enough for most applications, and made the construction at least twice as strong.

Yes , you could include ramps but as the picture suggests , they are'nt really needed .

Yes a wench would also be handy , but she will probably want to ride up front with you :D .

[You will want to keep a block of wood handy to place under the trailer tail (a couple of inches short of how it sets when it is empty). I have learned this after loading my TN55. I got it part way on the trailer and noticed that the ground was moving regardless of how hard I pushed on the brakes! After I collected my wits I moved forward pretty quick to get some weight on the tongue. I keep an unsplit log around now.

I've seen trailers where they've welded a small piece of steel pipe or square tube to each side of the rear of the trailer. They then took a longer piece of a smaller size that would slide through the trailer mount. Drill some holes for pins and you have adjustable holding jacks you can carry on the trailer. I welded several mounts for Bulldog type jacks around my trailer for that and also for ease of tire changing.

I measured the tractor with FEL and shredded at 20ft.

We've carried this setup on my brothers 14ft tilt trailer before with the bucket raise ups some and taking the tailwheel off.

I think the 16 will be better and a 20 would even be better.

Oh, when/if you install lighting, add in a set of Wallyworld $20 clear fog lights as back up lights on the trailer. Man they make it easy!
I have gone that route already. I think you are better off to spend a little bit more on work lamps. The light pattern is much better.

We added flip up ramps to the back of a 16' trailer last week. We used two heavy pipes, one of which fit inside the other. We cut pieces of the larger pipe to go at the outside edges and inside of the back of the trailer creating a mount. Then an additional piece of the larger pipe was welded to the top of each ramp. The smaller pipe was cut to the length (width of trailer), a piece of bar was welded on one end to serve as a stop, the other was drilled and a bolt used as a stop on that end. The smaller pipe was threaded through the three mounts on the trailer and the two ramps. The ramps flip up easily. We used a steel bar with bolts extending from the side of the trailer and ramp on each outside to hold the ramp in the up position.

If a longer load prevented the ramps sitting upright the ramps could be chained in place to prevent them dragging.

We considered adding a couple of jacks on swivel mounts riding the smaller pipe but have decided to build a couple to mount under the channel at the outside edge of the trailer.

When you start to load jack front of trailer up with jack as high as you can that will help clear bottom of the car you are loading . I have had to do this more than once.

I have been working on a "new to me" trailer for the last month and I'm just about finished up after getting some angle iron welding on the back to keep the ramps from sliding off.

I'm down to trying to find an easy access place to mount the ramps.

I'd rather not bend all the way down and have to drag the ramps out of racks welded under the deck and I don't want to have to throw them into the back of the truck.

If you guys have come u with a good way to attach ramps to your trailers please post a picture or two.

Thanks in advance!

If you have stake brackets on the side of your trailer you could bolt some channel to them and drop the ramps in.

Picture is not very good but can give you an idea. Just want to make sure they are secured.

That looks good. I'll be at the welders today and that may be the best way for me to mount them.
