Posting problems like this stick in your head, so when it happens to you you remember what to do before causing more damage. Great video and glad you got without costing a ton of cash and no injuries. Nice job.

Yes it does. I took down over 20 trees last month and my neighbor thought I was pretty stupid for leaving the stumps of about 3 ft tall:confused:. He finally asked why and I told him that since there was 18" of snow I could not get down low enough to cut them flush with the ground. And since that are sticking up I will not run over them and hang the tractor, nor trip on them if we get more snow and I walk in the woods. I can go back in the spring/summer and cut them flush and not mess up my chain saw by sticking the bar in the snow and ice. Suddenly he thought that I was pretty smart....

Yeh, they look funny now. But the clean up will be easy when the right day comes.

Not long after I had gotten my tractor I ran over one and it put a hole in the big filter that hangs down just in front of the rear axle on my 1620. Bad design but I learned a lesson as it puked the fluid out:mad:. Not I am more careful where I drive. :D

Easier for the bulldozer to push over.

Cary good job getting unstuck. I was servicing my TC40D last week and noticed that rubbe "T". I decided that thing could be a potential source of trouble. You did good operating the machine wearing your seatbelt and taking things slow. I will offer a couple of things that could help you stay out of trouble. You should think about driving with the loader much lower. The lower bucket/forks lowers your center of gravity which reduces the chance of tipping. Objects like those stumps are just big enough to tip you if your loader is to high. By carrying you loader low you can drop it more quickly in the event of an emergency. Had you been carrying your forks lower they would have hit the stump and stopped you from running over them. Last thing is to always lower all implements and loader to the ground before you get off of the tractor. If they are on the ground they can't fall on you and they will keep the tractor from rolling away if the parking brake fails. Have Fun!

thanks again for the suggestions on how to avoid pesky stumps and objects that can damage the underbelly. I,also, intend to keep my drawbar on my 3pt and keep it low enough to hit a stump while backing up. I got stuck on that stump operating at dusk, was in a hurry while backing up and not looking rearward.

I have posted another video on how I use my tractor, link belowr You will notice in the audio while manuvering my tractor to use my FEL/fork on the log a worrisome sound. metal on metal. I know the tube enclosing my drive shaft was dinged and maybe contacting the shaft as it turns? The sound is intermittent and seems to be more noticable while turning. Sound goes away if the tractor is stationary. Long steering tie rod between front wheels is contacting the front differential but not confident that is the source of the metal on metal noise.

Those are some nice size logs you have. Do you have an estimate of what they weigh? Do you think with enough rear weight ballast you could pick them up with the loader? Seems like you have it down moving them around. Thanks for sharing what you do with your tractor and hope you don't have anymore mishaps with some stumps.

to JDeerekid,

Based on log weight calculator online at

Timber and Lumber Calculators at WOODWEB

I would estimate that the log my TC35 was pushing and pulling at youtube demo around 2600lbs. My loader was in bypass during the whole loading process. My tractor has loaded tires so my loader goes into bypass before the rear end is raised off the ground beit very light in the rear. At 2600lbs the loader raised the log barely off the ground but mitigates the weight load on the ramp so once on the ramp my blue tractor can push and raise the log onto the mill deck which is about 30" off the ground with relative ease.
