I asked my son how much fuel he was using in the 755 (20 hp) doing different jobs last spring and summer. Pulling a planter about .5 gallons per hour. Bush hogging about .75 gallons an hour and pulling a 6 ft. disk about a gallon an hour. In a hundred engine hours last year the 755 burned about 83 gallon of fuel.

On my L3400-- I would say between .5 to 1 gallon per hour..

scraping, box blading .5 to.75 (I have some big hills that really burns the fuel when I drag a full box up them!)

Loader work-- Heavy work is a full gallon per hour..
light stuff- .75..

On some of my 10 hour days on the weekend I have gone thru a full tank and then a little bit more!

Best I can tell my JD4700, 48 engine HP, gets uses about 1/2 gallon per hour doing FEL work, splitting wood, box blading. Hook up the mower and run at PTO speed its about 1 gallon an hour.

Even when the price of fuel was getting close to $5 a gallon when you looked at the work done per hour it was a deal. :D

I have a 28HP Jinma 3 Cylinder Diesel 4x4 Tractor and its mainly used for Logging (30 hrs per year), mowing pastures (60 hrs per year), and other chores with the PHD Grader Blade and Box Blade (30 hrs per year), and it has averaged .75 gallons per hour. My tractor has 575 hours since 2004 and I know the 150 gallons the Co-Op delivers last a good 1.5 years.

Seems like all the 25-30 HP tractors do about the same.

Chris,
I've noticed that Loretta's 28hp 284 Jinma (new 2008 with 150 hours on it) uses just as you said ... about 3/4 gallon per hour.
What's even more amazing to me is that my 2005 Kama 554 (55hp with 650 hrs on it) uses about the same ... 3/4 gal/hour. For as much power as it has and as much as the 4x4 unit weighs, it is very frugal in the fuel department.

Rob-

I would wonder why the Kama is so gentle on the fuel for sure..
Of course there is always maybe the Jinma is just being a guzzler-- But I know better than say that about Loretta's pride...

My JD4700 48 HP 40.5 PTO HP gets about .5-.75 GPH running non PTO speeds doing wood splitting, FEL work and box blading. Put on the mower and got to PTO speed its around 1 GPH best I can tell.
