Oil & Fuel BX24 fuel starved

Looks like you got it fixed.
That's good.
Hi folks. Sorry for the lack of response from me on this issue. been a bit busy with other things. The tractor had to wait.

I finally took the fuel lines apart yesterday and had no flow from the tank at the first filter hose. Blew it back with compressed air and voila. Good flow.

Emptied the tank through the open line and it flowed well until it was empty.

Took a coat hanger and made a swab with a clean rag. Swabbed out the tank and out came a big chunk of curly plastic some particles that looked like wasp wings and some small straw pieces. The plastic looks like trimmings from the tank when it was molded. Easily enough curly plastic stuff to plug up that small line.

Hopefully I got it all. It would be a nasty job to pull that tank outside in the cold.

Ran it for three hours or so afterwards cleaning up the barnyard and it's like a new machine again!

Thanks for all the replies!

Not scary to me since that was the only case I've ever heard of a BX doing that.

Not too many hours. Not sure of the exact hours but probably less than 100.
It's about a year old.

I agree. You shouldn't be too concerned about that exact problem happening on another machine.

i'm also having the same symptoms on my bx24.

it started this winter when pushing snow. almost died on me. the throttle was set but the rpms started dropping like the engine was fuel starved. after about 15 seconds or so, the engine speed picked back up again. only happenend once or twice when i had the rpms up a bit to push heavy, wet snow. i though it was too warm for a gelling problem (in the mid 20's).

kind of forgot about for awhile because didn't work the tractor very hard until mowing season.

now, every time i mow for about 1/2 hour, it will do it. the engine acts like it becomes fuel starved, rpms drop from about 2800 down to 12-1500 and after a few seconds, picks up again. this might happen 4-6 times in the course of mowing 4 acres.

i don't really have time to tear the fuel system apart to clean it. thinking i might drop it off at the dealer for warranty service. just bought a new fuel filter. are there two filters on the bx24? the manual only shows the one by the engine, i think.

I have had problems also once at about 1oo hrs I replaced the filters & it was fine and just a week ago at about 180 hrs this time I blew the line back with a air hose, big mistake if you are going to do this take the fuel cap off first because it will pressurize the tank and you can imagine what happens when you take the blow gun off the fuel hose, actually this clogged up again and I took the filter off & blew it back so far its been working fine.

There are two fuel filters on a BX24. One beside the engine and one underneath the floorpan just behind the silver fuel pump. Don't mistake the fuel pump for the fuel filter, they are shaped almost the same but the actual filter is plastic like the one beside the engine.
