RTV 500 Rattle Sound

Mtrain I haven't taken it in yet for the service. Been covered up at work but I will post here and let you know the results. I agree with you about the sound, if you aren't listening for it you may not even notice. Turn on your lights and plug in a spot light to cause a draw on your alternator and the noise will disapear. Tell me then which way sounds better? I can tell you it sounds a heck of alot better without the rattle. We shouldn't let Kubota pass the buck on this obvious design defect. I got $10 grand in mind and all I want to hear at idle is engine noise. I'll post results of the service call at completion of service.

Ok gang. Sorry for not getting back sooner with some info but I have been sidelined with a terminally ill family member. I finally took my rtv500 to get the rattle noise fixed. The mecahnic said he has gotten some suggested fixes from Kubota and it has to do with the slash pulley. I also asked if the current 500 units are still making the rattle and he said that every one makes the rattle but not as loud and obvios as mine. I will pick it up Thursday and will post the results. I'm a little dissapointed in all you Kubota cheerleaders! Come on guys till Kubota steps up to the plate and fixes this rattle issue i'm not cheering for nothing. Keep this issue on page one and turn up the noise. Kubota might finally hear us and then do something. This is a design defect and i'm really disapointed that Kabota is hoping we will just go away. Squeaky wheel eventually gets the grease!

Yep,

Tried the old plug in spotlight with headlights on deal. Every time I turned on the spotlight, got a different sound from the engine compartment. Seems that you need the RTV on a lift
to listen for the sound difference from underneath the unit.

Mine was not annoying, but noticeable !

I am located in Pa. Venango County, perhaps a location to meet other RTV 500 owners?

Now that you have taken it in for service your Kubota dealer can diagnosis the problem instead of jumping to conclusions and/or wasting time on something that could be unrelated to the problem. So, by slash pulley do you mean they adjusted the tension of the alternator belt to stop the noise?

Finally I have some good news to report. My dealer spoke to Kabota and they replaced the Alternator which helped quiet the noise but not 100%. It still has a slight rattle but it is not nearly as noticable as before and I can live with it. I did crank up a new unit right of the truck and it had the same loud rattle mine use to have. The alternator definately made a difference and the tech said he was going to keep working on it with Kabota to try and fix the rattle completely. I really love my RTV 500 and in my opinion is the finest little utility vehicle around. Im headed to the camp in the morning with 50 gallons of round up to spray my green fileds. All the sprayer equipment fits perfectly in the bed. Have a great day gang and please say a prayer for my Mom whose dying of Pancreatic Cancer. Its a **** of a disease and makes my rattle problem seem quite insignificant.
