Flight school?

"I agree that flying over the OP's house does not necessarily present an appreciable hazard. That is why their are no regulations against it, that apply here. "

Here is the regulation again- it was already posted.

ァ 91.119 Minimum safe altitudes: General.

Except when necessary for takeoff or landing, no person may operate an aircraft below the following altitudes:

(a) Anywhere. An altitude allowing, if a power unit fails, an emergency landing without undue hazard to persons or property on the surface.

(b) Over congested areas. Over any congested area of a city, town, or settlement, or over any open air assembly of persons, an altitude of 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle within a horizontal radius of 2,000 feet of the aircraft.

(c) Over other than congested areas. An altitude of 500 feet above the surface, except over open water or sparsely populated areas. In those cases, the aircraft may not be operated closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure.

(d) Helicopters. Helicopters may be operated at less than the minimums prescribed in paragraph (b) or (c) of this section if the operation is conducted without hazard to persons or property on the surface. In addition, each person operating a helicopter shall comply with any routes or altitudes specifically prescribed for helicopters by the Administrator.

I love airplanes and have best friends that are pilots. This defense of illegally buzzing houses at less than 100' is really bewildering. That's the type of behavior that results in the curtailment of the freedoms you enjoy. (paraphrasing) "We're only hearing one side of the story, he must be exaggerating - no pilot would do that" "He was landing & it was necessary" yeah .. right. THOSE are the fairy tales totally fabricated by non-witnesses.

Wait a minute- I saw a thread bashing ATV riders for cutting across someones property. I own an ATV! I'd better jump on there and start waving the BS flag!

As you pointed out, there is nothing illegal about it. The dude is on landing approach.

Well, maybe the pilot is growing up. He made several approaches, and take offs. On the landings, he flew over the end of my driveway, which is 650' from my house. I happened to be working in the woods very near there, and all I could hear was the wind, no engine sounds. Also his approaches were straight as could be.

I am pretty sure that at my house, I would not notice a landing such as this unless outdoors...that nice!

During an approach, that is silent, is the engine idling? If so, I thought I might have heard it.

To those who doubt that what I stated in this thread was the truth:

Internet or not...I guess I don't get it. For what reason would I fabricate a story like this? For what reason would I not give the facts? Is it a new hobby that I don't know about?

Tis been my experience that when a person accuses someone of an action totally foreign to that person...it is only because that act is something that the accuser has thought of and might initiate.

Enjoy your day!

Apparently it's just a total lack of reading comprehension?
Main Entry: 1nec·es·sary
Pronunciation: \ˈne-sə-ˌser-ē\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English necessarie, from Latin necessarius, from necesse necessary, probably from ne- not + cedere to withdraw — more at no

1 a : of an inevitable nature : inescapable b (1) : logically unavoidable (2) : that cannot be denied without contradiction c : determined or produced by the previous condition of things d : compulsory

I'm sure he NEEDED to fly within 2 wingspans of your house or he'd have never made the runway...on every practice approach...

Reading comprehension has nothing to do with anything. The pilot makes the determination of the best approach for a safe landing. What you or I or anyone else thinks doesn't matter.

WHY???? Our airport has a short runway, with trees, and is surrounded by houses, including one that is right at the approach end of the preferred runway. However, I can at anytime, easily avoid flying over any one of the houses. You simply modify your pattern, or, come in at an angle.

If he is truly changing his ways, might be time to visit the neighbor with a six pack and a "thank you"???? A little goodwill can go a long way......
