Bucket Hooks and D Ring

   / Bucket Hooks and D Ring #11
I put a D ring dead center on top and two hooks towards the end of the bucket on my M7040. I really like it setup that way. I'm actually surprised how much I run the chain through the D ring, then to one of the hooks. Works quite well.

I've got 2 D rings about where most peeps would mount a pair of hooks.

I'm thinking of running a pipe between them to hook up a pair of pallet forks to,

Stole the idea from another thread.

Very clever setup, I wish I had turned one hook around like the Ivan did.

You could probably sell something like that to guys like me that don't know how to weld. Wonder what the shipping would be from Alberta Canada?
Assuming the Ivan doesn't want to do it, you could always support your local welding shop.

Yes, find a certifed welder close to you...you will get exactly what you want for a good price. I have 3 welding tickets, one for inspection of new construction, one for in service inspection and repairs, the third ticket is a "farmer" ticket.

Guys - How is the chain being run here, to utilize the backwards hook - I know the chain is going behind the bucket, but I'm not sure how the chain is run.

Hook one of the chain ends on the left, and the the other end in the right hook, and then run the middle of the chain through the D ring. Drop chain on the backside of the bucket Use a double hook in the middle of the chain to lift. Best position to lift is backside, middle.

We welded two hooks near the center of the front bucket, both facing back. One hook is large enough to allow the chain to "pass through" the other is the type that "hook onto the links".

This allows us to use either or both hooks for lifting or pulling.

We have thought about adding a receiver on the bucket so we could use it to move trailers as well as make special purpose slides.

You could have welded one with slot facing upward, and the other facing downward for this reason. If you want to wrap the chain around the bucket to hold something in like a log, the chain will hook and hold from both directions.
You can also lift from the front using the one with the slot facing down, or use the one with the slot up to lift from the backside of the bucket, which can lift the most.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I welded this. I pushed over some small trees and put the root ball in the bucket. I could not strap/chain the root ball inside very well, that is why the D ring was put in.

The opposing hooks are for lifting things from either the inside or the outside of the bucket.

We can always weld a third hook facing the other direction. :)
