Tractor
2003 Kubota BX1800 and 2010 B3030
I got the fever and am stepping up from my BX1800 to a B3030...being delivered next week. I have the FEL and B2782 blower coming with it and will let Hammond Tractor keep the backhoe until Spring. I thought that since I wouldn't be using the backhoe through the winter, I'd let them sell it to me in the Spring after they've stored it through the snow season.

I'm looking for hydraulic chute rotation solutions people have come up with for the 2782. That will be the first project I do beginning the day of delivery. I won't be buying the Kubota kit, more as a protest of the cost, but also because I like doing this kind of modification myself. I'm really interested in seeing some pictures of what you guys have done and I'll come up with some similar unit from there. Thanks in advance. Dyer, retired

Sorry I can't help with the question but wanted to congratulate you on the purchase. I had a B2910 (earlier version of the B3030) and loved it. Great tractor, great size, awesome HP/Weight ratio. Hardest working tractor in it's size on the market. Good Luck!!

Thanks guys! I've got lots of little projects mapped out for it, but in the meantime will get plenty of use in a couple of months removing the white stuff.

I know you are a hardy guy from your avatar picture, but did you get the cab?

No cab, I like that 20 below zero wind and snow coming through my hair feel. The cab model wouldn't have fit in my garage, so that was the bigger consideration.

smfcpacfp,

I know you have the hydraulic chute rotation. Does your motor connect directly to the chute base or does it turn the existing worm gear in some fashion?

He walks, he talks, he crawls on his belly like a reptile! Hi there Dyer retired....... not true I heard. Congratulations on the ugrade! That will be a great tractor for you. Are you getting chains......... what tires? Here's a picture for you to have a coffee over. ( I take no credit for the photos since they were contributed by another member, and I saved them for the same reason)

Hi Chuck, Yes, I am up and moving, but not so retired as I once was. Back with the State investigating Medicaid Fraud...no shortage of work. I went with the R4's and don't plan on chains at this point. Good to hear from you! Thanks for the pictures. John

This new snowblower will be built much heavier than the one you have for the BX. I was looking at both versions for my smaller B, and was surprised how much difference there was.

I looked at the new blower in the crate and the wings are certainly heavier plate than the 2750. I was surprised to hear that the 2782 is only 50 pounds heavier though. I like the added width too.

Look at Chuck's first picture. Mine is exaclty the same arrangement

I found another post with a Char-lynn J-2 series motor mounted like Chuck's and pictures of yours I've looked at. The other post shows a cog mounted on the top of the motor and directly connected to the chute base. I think I've got the correct part numbers for that and it looks like the J-2 motor mounts directly to the plate that the worm gear gets removed from. The worm gear, as it is attached now, appears to be mounted at an angle to accomodate a hand crank and that would make it a touch more difficult to mount a motor with half couplings between (as I did on my 2750), but I think I'll be able to rig something without too much trouble. Thanks, John

The blower I looked at had the Kubota "drift knives" on the front. They are very heavy duty, and bolt to the front, and top of the blower. They add 3"-4" to the width. The smaller one I looked at was 54" across the front with the knives installed. If I get down that way again soon, I'll take a picture.

Thanks! I don't drink, but I have a hooded snowmobile suit, ski goggles, and snowmobile mask that covers most of my face....almost like being in a cocoon, ha! Cab still sounds like a lot more fun!

You will definitely love your new 3030.......... in fact, i give you a money-back guarantee (what the hey.... it ain't my money!)! You are missing out, not getting the cab though. It'll fit under a seven foot overhead door with minor modifications. Either way...... heckuva little tractor! :)

I'm interested in what modifications that would take?
