Worried about my BX25

   / Worried about my BX25 #21
Just my thoughts. While fuel consumption may not be an issue, bumping up the RPM may only mask your problem. From your description and having owned two different BX models, I am convinced there is a problem with your tractor, whether it is major or minor is the issue. If it is minor, you may not make things worse. But if it is major or potentially major, if you continue to operate it will just get worse; turn minor into major and you may run it past your warrant period.

Like I said, I have owned two BX's and don't usually run my engine over around 2000/2500 doing loader work and the performance has never changed. In my opinion, no noticeable degradation in performance is "acceptable".

Document trips to your dealer and assurances "it's normal" in case it swarms on you later.

ok , oil level checked, using udt. the only thing I Am not clear about is did you check the strainer from HST case ? or from filter ? Other guys made a point- try replacing fuel filters.

Do you treat your fuel ? adding power service will bump up the cetane numbers for better performance. perhaps your fuel you are using now is the winter blend which decreases the performance. I personally cant tell if it winter or summer with the BX.

These tractors are so fuel efficient, I wouldn't worry about the tiny fuel savings by cutting your RPM's. You can run that tractor all day long at 3000 RPM doing front loader work and not even burn a tank of fuel. QUOTE]

Running at full rpm with the occassional throttle down for a break, I have lasted around 7 hours on a full tank from the start of the work. This appears to be in line with manufacturer specs...so says the regional service rep, and he adds that it is actually better than the specs, which is around 6 hours at full throttle.

On my BX24 I had noticed the top end had dropped off some. Had some other issues with a stuck pedal, but I did find a loose nut on the linkage. It is on a ball socket that connects the pedal linkage to the lever. It is fairly buried and hard to get to. It is also one of those place where you have very limited stroke on the wrench. Point is if you don't get up there and look close you can miss it. You also have to move the linkage to check it as it isn't obvious when it loosens up.

Take Care

Given that its under warranty I would expect them to take care of any problems but for future use I would run it wide open. As it may have gotten hot and finaly found the week spot.

Thanks TripleR... great to hear that you run your engine in the exact same range that I USED to run mine in. This adds to the info I need.

As I mentioned earlier. I did check the strainer and didn't find any metal or anything else. I didn't treat the fuel... just get what is provided (not sure if they change fuel from summer to winter types but my BX25 problem has now spanned warm to cold weather).

Thanks Newfiestang50. Might take you up on that later. First though I want to do some speed tests (perhaps using a gps) so that I will have more solid info to bring back to the dealer. In the meantime I will email my contact at the dealer and ask him to start looking at these posts concerning my BX25.
