Determining motor/pump size

What is wrong with the existing hydraulic motor? Any reason you cant use it as is?

now if it is worn out I would consider crossing over to a Commercial Shearing motor with the similar specs. These are good quality and also available with the end fed hoses.

It appears that this deck was driven by a PTO shaft. He added the motor, hoping it would work, and it may work, if he has a pump that can supply the correct amount of hyd fluid to the motor. He is also not sure about the max rpm that the TORO deck was designed to run. There are a lot of ifs here. dodge85rc is trying to make something, with what he has.

No there is nothing wrong with it. Now that it has been determined that is big enough I plan on using it. On to the pump now...

THe max rpm at the pto shaft end of the gearbox was 2700 rpm. I thought I posted that before, maybe I forgot.

dodge85rc,

You did post earlier, that your brother said it ran at 2700 rpm. I went back and read all the post again.

You also said the speed of the deck was 1800, and the gearbox was 1 : 1

So I need a pump then that will pump out at least 10 gpm to drive the motor?

Looks like you want about 15 p[m from the pump but if you are using a 100 hp engine you need to decide what the engine rpms are going to be, what the output shaft to the pump will be, then pick a pump who''s flow is correct.

I picked up a couple of big hydraulic clutch pumps. Need some help figuring out specs.
First one is a borg-warner, number on it is s20517dh81r
Haven't found the numbers on the 2nd one yet...

Did you settle on any particular HP? If you are thinking high HP, then any number of pumps would work.

You can either test those pumps your self, or let a hydraulic shop test them for you. They should be able to give you operating pressure, GPM, and direction of rotation.

I'm sorry I'm not following, hp for what, the engine?

Yes, the HP on the engine. You had mentioned a 100 HP engine, and a smaller engine at another time. The HP available will be the limiting factor in the pump size utilized, and that figure will transfer to the HP that the hydraulic motor will develop.
