I am considering welding a 2 inch receiver permanently to the large cross over pipe on the lift arms. This is pretty radical for me and I have not really thought about where exactly I would put it. It would primarly be used for a winch (hand powered). Just thinking out loud really. Any comments would be appreciated.

That would be handy, but here is a mod to a hand winch using a hyd motor. Just unplug the QA hyd and plug into the winch, and control things from the seat.

That's not bad. I will have to consider that. As usual, thanks for your input. I bought a receiver today and will play around with a configuration. I will take some pictures and hope for some comments and critiques.

Just curious are you going to use the winch for pulling logs out of the woods or pulling a stuck power trac out of the woods or snow?

Mostly stuck in the swamp stuff. Actually I was stuck in the snow last week and it would have worked for that. It does not snow a lot here, but when it does clearing the driveway is very important.

I would be worried about bending things especially if it is not a dead-on pull from the front.

Yeah, that would be my main concern as well. The FEL arms aren't meant to be torqued to the sides. I worry about that when dragging logs out of the woods with a ring in the 2" receiver and a chain on the ring. I try to keep the pulls straight and lift the end of the log off the ground so it won't suddenly grab in and put a shock load to the side.

I wish I had pictures, but what I did with my winch was I mounted the electic winch to a plate, then attached chains to the plate, Those chains hook onto the tractor's chain hooks (frame welded). I have yet to use it in the field but the system has worked in garage tests.

I agree. I cannot really put the 2 inch rec. on the center because the roll over mechanism will get in the way. I could put it low on the front plate that the bottom of the lift hydraulic cylinders are tied to. It would only be 8 inches off the ground. But it might work. Any comments or other suggestions?

I mounted a tow hook on the front plate between the FEL lift arms. I use that to chain it down on my trailer. I can get to it from either side, so I don't have to put my body under the raised FEL. That is something you need to consider if you want to mount a receiver under there. You don't want to raise the FEL and then go under it to operate a hand winch.

Have you considered putting a reciever on the inside of the top of your bucket?
