Yanmar (Chinese) Clone generators -- where to get a key?

I have two nearly generators with Chinese-made clones of the Yanmar L70 engine (CF-178) (both purchased used). One is a Titan 5500, the other an ETQ (Eastern Tool and Equipment).

The previous owner of the ETQ lost the key, but the key from the Titan fits, so I suspect these keys are like tractor keys, in that they don't bother keying the locks differently.

Because I only have one key between the two of them (no spare), I went to my trusty they-have-everything local hardware store to get copies, but they didn't have any appropriate blanks.

Of course, with most tractors, you just go to the dealer, and tell them what model tractor, and they'll sell you a key.

Any idea where to get keys for these generators?

Post a picture of the key.

Try TSC or other farm stoor and look at the mower replacement keys or put a mower switch in that you can get parts for it should be an easy replacement.

+1 on the pic of the key. Some keys are very common. Both of my snowmobiles and the riding mower have the same key.

I'll take a picture of the key tomorrow. The switch has 5 terminals, and 3 sets of contacts (start,run, and stop), so a mower switch won't do it (already thought of that and bought one, only to discover that it won't do it all).

That look just like the switch assy, same connector and all.

I found this key catalog by googling "key blank" ultra

They have a Yanmar key in there but it does look a bit different.

Do you have a wiring diagram?

After thinking about it a toggle switch and push button should work
and if it has glow plugs a second push button and relay for it.

check for a good lock shop they should have one to fit.
take the other lock with you to try it in at the shop blank should slide in before its cut.

check the other tractor dealers again take lock and key with you and see if key fits in.

The local Ace Hardware didn't have the correct blank. I'll need to check Homey Depot and Lowes too.

I already "rang out" the switch with a meter, and know how to replaces it with a SPDT toggle, and a pushbutton. It is pretty tight in there, spacewise and, and since both units work fine, it would just be easier to get keys if I can find them. Also, I like things to be neat, and if I remove the key switch, that leaves one large hole, where I would need two smaller ones, so then I'd need to make a "boo-boo" plate to cover that. Yes, it can be done, but way more time required than I have to put on the project. Again, easier to just get the correct key.

Not yet. The first vendors has a minimum shipping charge of $15, and doesn't list just the key. I can get a new switch and keys for $40 + $15 shipping. $55 is a lot for a key.

The other vendor doesn't have online ordering, and I haven't had time to call them on the phone.

Right and Wrong.. Atlanta is the distribution center for portable generators only. It operates under the name Opti Generators. Miami and Delaware is Aurora Generators LLC and Toronto Canada is Aurora Generators Inc.

There are others and over a dozen website names. No different from any other large company that has parent companies and other names to operate under. It is done for legal and logistic reasons.
