It doesn't. SHE likes the way it looks.

I'm gonna strip it off & use it for drainage around my shops' foundation. THEN I'll put in the crush-n-run for the driveway. SWMBO has seen the light about that. She can be taught it just takes a while. LOL

You other married guys are funny. The techniques that you use to try to manuever your wife to let you do what you want are classic. Here is my summer car:

One of two things are true about me:

1) I am single, or,

2) I don't feel the need to consult my wife regarding things that primarily affect me.

If I asked my wife for permission to buy the car the answer would have most likely been, "It doesn't make a lot of sense, does it. You already have a nice SUV." Turn around is fair play, of course.

I wonder if it is truly easier to seek forgiveness than to ask permission?

My answer is never, ever do either! Once you show weakness, you are dead meat. This advice is primarily for you single guys who are contemplating marriage. For those of you who have sought permission or forgiveness, you are dead meat.

I have been married for 34 years to the same person.

My solution to the wife's unwillingness to enjoy money well earned is to utter the one sentence she has come to dread - "Hey darlin', come outside and see what I bought you!" No permission requested or foregiveness asked. Over the years I've bought her several sport cars, 5-6 motorcycles, a couple of boats, and loads of tools like welding machines, chain saws, and compressors. She'll soon have the pleasure of a new SCUT or at least the pleasure of seeing me on one.

In my first year of marriage I once came home saying "Guess what I bought today?" to her response of 'What?" I replied, an airplane!

Is that what you mean by early training?

I since owned, traded, sold about a dozen or so.

On about 6th tractor, owned bulldozer and all sorts of 'neat man stuff'

Oh, married to same gal 45 yrs and not about to trade. (tractor perhaps)

I detest red, but I probably would have got the orange model if it were available at the time I ordered mine.

Hey smfcpacfp,

What did your wife get herself for HER midlife crisis, or do you even know?

Let us all not forget (especially you cave men, you know who you are), turn about is fair play. We aren't necessarily the only ones with "toys", and not all "toys" show up on a bank or credit card statement.
