Hey smfcpacfp,

What did your wife get herself for HER midlife crisis, or do you even know?

Let us all not forget (especially you cave men, you know who you are), turn about is fair play. We aren't necessarily the only ones with "toys", and not all "toys" show up on a bank or credit card statement.

SEMPER FI !

The Corvette wasn't a midlife crisis thing. I have had preformance cars and bikes all along.

I don't question when she gets things for herself that she really wants. She was financially successful in her own right. She is my scuba diving and travel buddy so we travel all around the world together enjoying things that we both like to do and see. My life with, and because of my wife has been great!

CBW1999,
Years ago, when SWMBO & I bought our house, it came with a POS WH 12HP garden tractor. It lasted 2 months after settlement then the deck disintegrated. $$ was tight so I found another, then another, & another. Got PO'd after the 5th one & told SWMBO I was buying another machine, but NEW. She sadi "OK, but not too much." I worked a deal on a new BX22, FEL, BH, & 54" MMM in mid 2002. T'was more than SWMBO had anticipated ($9200, Sticker was $17500) & the Ice Age came for 3 months. After 3 months we got 30" of snow in a weekend. She got her mommy van stuck sideways in the driveway where she had had me spread 6"-8" of PEA GRAVEL. (I told her to get Crush-N-Run. The Pea gravel was "more attractive than that ugly gravel") My BX22 made a parking place & pulled her out in about 10 minutes. She brought me out a thermos of coffee & hasn't griped about it since. Life is good.
In short, if you really NEED it, & can justify it, ASK then go get it.
T-Man.
BTW SWMBO & I have been together for 27 Yrs.

You just described me! I had 4 USED el cheapos lawn tractors in last 9 years before buying the BX! I too have pea gravel under the second story deck and that stuff goes all over. its a pain to walk on. It sure looks nice when its all raked smooth but once its walked on- BLAH! Upon before leaving for my business trip in UTAH, I was having problems with the last tractor smoking and I just added oil before I mowed the lawn and it was low when I was done. I specifically told my wife NOT to use the tractor until I return. Well whadda you know?! she thought she try to do a nice thing for me and went out to mow the lawn to mow down the "weeds" sticking up. Sure enough the tractor blew up! I gritted my teeth and said nothing. She knew I was mad but didnt question it either. I told her WE (notice the word WE, not I) need a NEW tractor, a real one and not a use junk one. sure enough we had a BX24 in the driveway with a 3pt tiller the following week.:D

And Men say Women are hormonal. There's more Male Hormones and Chest Beating going on in this thread than I've ever saw. Wonder how many posters would survive the wife reading these. :D

I would never criticize someone's comments about their husband/wife relationship or decision making process. For all the chest beaters, there's something in your relationship that you wouldn't want to talk about here and it's an issue that others wouldn't tolerate in their relationships. ;)

Radioman,
MY SIL needed a tractor last year. She has 6 Acres, a 200-300 ft drwy uphill, a small orchard & blue berries. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/buying-pricing-comparisons/131997-recommendation-please.html She got a JD GX255 NOT what I had in mind at all (Her neighbor found & recommended it) It didn't last a year. Not entirely the machines fault, it was underpowered for what she needed, seriously overloaded in addition to some truly crappy repairs. It died in her driveway pushing 30" of snow with a 72" blade UPHILL with the 60" deck still on. STOOPID. She claims she didn't know the mower deck would come off. DUMB, STOOPID & Ignorant.:mad::mad: Can you tell I hate machine abuse?
She now has A BX23, FEL, 54" SB & 60"MM. The JD went in trade $5700. I made her read the manuals and taught her how to operate her machine before I left. I'm looking for a tiller for the both of us, SHE's buying. I'll store, maintain & transport it up to her when she needs it. :D:);)
T-Man.

Most wives don't understand about the tractors until they see all the things they can do around the property, especially moving dirt and rocks for their gardens. They have to be convinced of their usefulness and even then they are skeptical. They just think it's an overly expensive male toy for hubbies that never grew up. It's not fair and it just isn't true :(;):D

I got the "get what you want" when I bought the BX23...Thought I would pay for that one...Never did...Then as my disabled daughter got too big to ride on the quad...I told her that a RTV500 would cover the rides and the snow plowing duties...She said get what you want...Didn't pay for that one either.

Then...She wanted a Hummer H3....THAT's when I paid for both of those:D:D

Fair is fair...:p

Been looking at an RTV1100, and she said get what you want..If I do that, I think the H3 might be trading garage space with an Escalade..Think I'll stand pat.

:cool:I cant believe some of you guys are scared of your wives, I am not the least bit afraid of mine when she ain"t around. LOL zman

We are not "scared", just respectful.
It's like running rapids in a kayak, sure you can try to go straight thru, but it's a lot easier if you look at what's in front of you and go with the flow, and try to avoid unseen undercurrents.
