Ok, So I have been seeking a tractor for general lawn care. I know either one will be overkill, however, I looked at "garden tractors" and for the money, they don't do much more than cut grass. My purpose is mowing less than an acre with hills and several trees at the rear of the yard. I also am putting in a garden, so a tiller will be used. light loader work with mulch and fill for flower beds as well. It seems the 1860 will do the job, however I have heard here that the 2360 has substantially more power. Also, what is a good price? tractor/loader/MMM.?? is it worth the extra $$ to jump up??

Thanks for the help!!

The 2360 does have substantially more power if you consider it in terms of percntage more. It's about 28% more. 18 HP in a Diesel 4WD SCUT is a powerhouse and 23 HP in a Diesel 4WD SCUT is a Super Powerhouse. If comparing to a gas 2WD of equal HP they are not on the same planet. Check the weight difference is a good rule of thumb in my opinion on equipment that has to do heavy duty work. Tractor and implements. If you are a "Tim The Toolman" (UGH! MORE POWER) follower then go for the 23 HP between the 2 choices but alway realize there is a BX2660 that will drag you down the street backwards laughing all the way. Now past mentalities into job duties, get the BX1860 for your needs, it will do everything you have described and sooooooo much more.:) If you can be happy knowing you can whip some others (18HP )but also knowing there's someone out there that can kick your butt (26HP) then do the BX2360. If you have to kick all takers then the BX2660. Again the BX1860 will do all your needs at this time as you've described but just do an honest self appraisal of your personality then pull the trigger.:) Course if you have to have the "more power" you can justify it to yourself and others by the old "but my needs may change and then I'll be underpowered and have to trade again and lose a lot of money and I'm actually saving a lot of money by getting what I'll need later now" justification statement that man has used since near the beginning of time. :D

What size mower deck do you want? I would have to have a 48", and I believe that is only available with the BX1860. The BX2360 has standard cruise control, whick I think is optional on the BX1860. I really like the cruise control on my L3940, and would have to get it on this tractor too. I am leaning towards a BX1860 with 48" mmm and loader and snowblower to replace my 1995 JD LX188 (17.5 hp liquid cooled v-twin) with 48" mmm and snowblower. You can get retail pricing by building your own tractor on Kubota's web site. Philip.

Remember that the PTO HP (needed for the tiller) will be quite a bit less than the rated engine HP. Verify this before making your decision.

Before I purchased my BX2350, I also looked at the 1850. The cost difference was maybe $400 IIRC which wasn't worth the savings. Nobody complains that their machine has "too much power".

I choose the BX2660 because of the comfort factor as well as power, but between the two mentioned, I would go with the BX2360.

The 1860 is a little shorter, has smaller tires and a little bit tighter turning radius according to what owners have posted, but I like bigger tires for a smoother ride and the turning radius isn't that much. That being said, neither would be a "mistake" and should meet your needs quite well.

Thanks for the info. I got a quote for 1860 @ 11,950. Is that a good Price? The 2360 is another 1500 more so 13,450. Both are with a 54in MMM and loader. I think the 2660 is way overkill for my needs.

Your quotes seem accurate. I bought the 1860 and power is never an issue. In my experience, I run out of traction before losing power. Not so very long ago, this 18 hp, 3 cyl diesel was the engine Du Jour of both the L series and the B series.

I also found $900 gap between these models, which is understandable, to make them fit a marketing slot. If money is no object, the 2660 has it all. For the base, tractor only price of $8800 for the 1860, I don't think it can be beat. Shoot, that's a big lawn mower price and look how more a BX does!!

If I really, really, felt I needed to feed the Tim, the Toolman, Taylor addiction of "more power", I'd either go with the BX2660 for it's great features, or for only $700 more, go all the way to a B2320 and have the taller ground clearance for gardening chores. See how this goes? Each "step" is just another few bucks.....:D:D

1*I have heard here that the 2360 has substantially more power.
Also, what is a good price? tractor/loader/MMM.??
2* is it worth the extra $$ to jump up??
1*I have a BX1500 with 15 hp which is more than enough power therefore the 1860 with 18HP is more then sufficent.
2*Either of them is a good choice.
and is worth the money - it depends on your preferences.

What size mower deck do you want?
3* I would have to have a 48",
and I believe that is only available with the BX1860.
I am leaning towards a BX1860 with 48" mmm
Philip.
3* why do you have to have a 48"?
I prefer at last a 54* maybe even a 60 inch because they leave less to trim with a back breakin string trimmer.

4*The 1860 is a little shorter.
5*It has smaller tires and a little bit tighter turning radius according to what owners have posted.
6*I like bigger tires for a smoother ride and the turning radius isn't that much. That being said, neither would be a "mistake" and should meet your needs quite well.

4*This BX1500 is the same size as a BX1860.
5*Same as this BX1500.

6*My BX23 has the same size tires as a BX2660

Since I have owned both sizes of these tractors with both the larger and smaller tires Ive not noticed any difference in ride between them .
The difference in tire size evidently is so insignificant it does not show up riding or operating them .

I do not 'have to have' but would prefer the 48" mmm. I currently have a 48" mmm on my JD LX188 and it suits my mowing duties well, fits between all three of my gate post, fits in my mini barm, and with a little rubbing, fits between the wheel wells of my truck. I have the L3940 with 72" rd finish mower for the big areas so I don't really need a 54" or 60" deck. Philip
