After much thought I am going to finally order my tractor here in the next week or so. Here is what I am looking at...

DK45SE HST w/ FEL Loader
Woods 90X Backhoe
Loaded R4's
4000lb Pallet Forks

Looks like this is going to run right about 32K +/- a little. I know this probably isnt the best deal out there, but I have found a dealer that is fairly close and seems like he will be reasonable to work with.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the input and all the readings that helped lead me to this decision.......

I think you will really like the 45 hst, if it would have been available when I bought my DK 45 that would have been my choice. The Woods 90 seems to be a good fit for that size tractor.
Good luck with your new equipment and post some pics when the tractor arrives.:)

Nothing against the HST, but the manual shift trans is very easy to shift and never grinds or shudders under load. Since I'm used to braking with my right foot, it is very natural to operate. Once you are used to the stick shift for reverse, it is really all done without thinking.
Of course if you are upgrading from a standard shift tractor and crave the luxury of HST...I prefer the feel of manual myself.
Buy the cab model if you possibly can.

I see you are in PA. If you are not dealing with Wallace tractor I think you should at least give him a shot at your business.

Good luck with your purchase!

I have already spoken to Rick and he has been a great help and source of information. I ended up getting ahold of a local dealer, that Rick knows (at least that is how I understand it, sorry if I have this wrong) and he seems like a great dealer to work with also. So just based on the fact that he is a little closer I am leaning towards him, with all things considered.

I will say though, Rick was one of the first people I spoke to about seriously purchasing a tractor. I dont think I could have found anyone better to run my initial ideas and questions by.....

Buy the cab model if you possibly can.

I spoke with a few dealers and it seems that the Woods backhoe cannot be used on a tractor that has a cab without significant adjustments made to the mounting bracket. I have swung back and forth on the cab debate, ultimately though this pretty much made up my mind for better or worse.

That's one nice thing with the Woods backhoe....it comes with the bracket already welded on so you can add as the money allows you.
You can get a manual thumb and then turn that into the hydraulic thumb down the road.

Nothing against the DK45se as it is virtually identical to the DK40se except for 10% more PTO output and $2000+ in cost but if you want essentially the same tractor for less consider the DK40se. Use the extra money to get either a grapple plus mechanical thumb or a hydraulic thumb and you'll be far more productive than just having a tad more PTO power. I have the 40se with the Woods 90x and it has been a great combo.

I'd buy the 45 if I were getting a cab with A/C but otherwise I haven't heard any 40 owner wishing they'd sprung for the 45.
