In nine hours we completely install the black and gray water drain system. When I say we I really mean our hired plumber and his crew. We did assist and over seen the operation and I must say it was great to have such good success. We were braced for the job to involve much more time excavating stone. As for the dual water drainage system, you may ask why? Clean water will become more and more expensive. It only makes good sense to use it twice.

Hi Sam,

I bet you are chomping at the bit to get your slab in. Good to hear your drain lines are down.

Keep on Keepin' on
Dave.

Pretty exciting time Sam. Don't forget the electrical rough in ! ;)
When you get the floors in, the acoustics get very weird. Do not panic. Once we got some interior walls up the acoustics are much more normal. They're still a little lively, but furniture should settle that down nicely.

Good planning on your part in the plumbing, I like the idea of having a gray water system (but we didn't think of it...).

Today we worked five hours busting through twelve feet of rock. I told my wife Wendy to remember all the hard work we put into this septic system when you use the facilities. Maybe I should make a toilet from the stone in the septic field.

Well, that was no fun. Looks like a layer of rock near the surface with soil beneath it. I have run across rock layers here. You will find a use for the rock somewhere :), but it sure slows things down.

A bed of sand in the bottom of the trench and sand to cover the pipes would be good protection.

The pic of the house from the trench looks good.
Dave.

I'll bet you're one sore puppy after using that Bosch hammer. I rented one once to remove some concrete at my Mom's house. It worked well; but I sure felt it the next day.

Your place is looking good.

Just a comment on the Uni of Oregon solar page: a place you can get your location data from is: http://forecast.weather.gov/ You can move the map around and drill down to your lot with it, then read the specific lat/lon by looking just below the title bar on the left side of the page.

I hurt the after the first long session but now is doesn稚 bother me unless I get it stuck and struggle for a while to get it removed. I rented one of these Brutes twice and decided to purchase because of the endless rock.

It is handy to have more than one chisel tip so the third can be used to CAREFULLY retrieve the second which got stuck trying to get the first one out.

I learned to not sink the tool too far into rock or concrete before pulling it out and going at a different angle/direction.
