I should have mentioned that they also make bull pup stocks for the Marlin 60 and 70 .22 rifles. ;)

+1 for the Ruger 10/22 . When I retired, I bought the stainless steel target model for my own retirement present to myself :D. The Ruger has a zillionnnnnnn after market parts for them, and I discovered that ebay also has a low cost e-book for the "Ruger 10/22 performance enhancements". These modifications can be done by the common Ruger firearm owner with common sense and using very little money. You can also choose to purchase the after market parts, such as triggers, extended magazine realease, etc... The e-book also shows how to add the very simple cleaning rod hole in the rear of the receiver. I have found enjoyment in making my own shims to tune up a standard 10/22 trigger a long with polishing the parts of the trigger for a better trigger pull vs. the cost of an after market trigger assembly. sorry about that..

I love my AR and try to show is versatility any time i can.. I hardly ever shoot the 5.56 anymore due to cost BUT the .22 is a great way to 'save' money shooting..

the 450B is the newest edition and i got some strange looks at deer camp this year - "that an assault rifle/thats illegal/etc" - they are more traditional and I had to show them how it was just a semi-auto like theirs.. its very accurate and no heavier than my 308 ruger

Not to go off topic, but that is one of the biggest misconceptions the American public has regarding firearms in our society... that "assault" style weapons are horrible killing machines, when, in fact, they are for the most part just a semi-automatic rifle with a different stock. Both a traditional and "assault" style weapon still needs to have one trigger pull for each shot fired. I wish there was some way to educate the American people on this subject.

I would like a BullpupGunStocks.com | bullpup rifle stocks for Ruger, SKS, M14 / M1A and Marlin brands bull pup stock for my 10/22 but imagine the looks I'd get carrying that around. :(

O.K. Off my soap box now. Thanks for listening. :)

I think the funny thing is...

If the American public was educated in a way that would eliminate the stigma of the big bad black assault rifle....nobody would buy them anymore, and everyone would go back to a sporterized rifle anyways. Let's face it, most people buy them because they make you look and feel like a badass..lol

I can't ever think of a time while hunting that I ever needed more than 5 shots, or a pistol grip improved my shooting. While in target shooting competitions, it was generally counterproductive to accuracy to fire in rapid succession anyways due to barrel warming...of course there are venues which reward rapid fire...in any event, I'm not giving up my scary guns...cause they make me feel like a badass too...lol

I have had to 'educate' quite a few ppl on what an 'assault rifle' really was by definition.. most were really surprised that a pistol grip, bayonet lug, collapsible stock, detachable magazine (what am i missing) could turn something into pure evil LOL

After the ban I did add a collapsible stock to my AR but never had a need for the bayonet mount..

I own a number of rifles including a variety of actions and stock types from old falling-block, single shots to a Colt AR15 Hbar.

As far as shooting in the field, the AR format is quite awkward to use with either shooting rests or bags....and large capacity magazines get in the way....IMO. I find the pisol grip stock to hold some value for acuracy....but I fail to see any shooting advantage (and plenty of disadvantages) for this type of stock under typical sporting conditions. (Waay too many operating levers and buttons for me.)

Funny thing tho....one of my grandsons loves the "cool look" of the "assult rifle" while the other one (with lots of real world hunting experience) much prefers the clean sporter look.....as do I.

OHH.....and I saw where Ruger is just now offering a new assault rifle look to the famous 10-22 rifle action.....and charging about $300+ more for it vs the "old" sporter version.....lol. Quite a bit of money for a new look.....IMO.

You forgot "Black", that is what truly makes it scary. I had to make mine political correctness compatible. The special paint to meet specification was very expensive.

I have a 10-22 with a scope and i love it ,BUT i sometimes wish it would shoot 22 mags.On a wood chuck or skunk you need a head shot to bring them down right away. But the 50 round banana clip is effective too,i can empty it pretty quick:laughing:

Interesting thread...too bad it got sidetracked by the AR-15 guys (I own one, but the thread subject is a .22 semi-auto rifle).
Anyway, the detachable things you load the cartridges in is called a "Magazine", not a clip. Clips are something else altogether, but some rifles do use clips.
