With an open center system (like the Kubota has) you will not be able to operate the backhoe and 3pt at the same time. When you unhook the backhoe and hook the power beyond hoses together then the 3 pt hitch should raise and lower.

On my M4800 I can't operate the rear remote and the loader or 3pt hitch at the same time. Only one at a time. If I have the log splitter attached I have to move the rear remote handle to center before I can raise or lower the 3pt hitch.

Kennyd (over in the hydraulic section) should be able to explain it better than I did.

Chris, do you know if your tractor had the factory GPM pump on it? Since mine didn't come with an FEL I was wondering if I'll have to upgrade.

Jay, bought this Feb. 09. Loader was LA1002 bought without a bucket. Cost: $4100 Tach-All adapter QA (since this FEL was not skid steer compatible) $695 WR Long electric over hydraulic valve $600 Markham Grapple 48" beefed up version $1460 Markham Bucket (either a 60" or 72"???) $623 Markham tooth bar $272 install labor $120

Total costs: about $7870

If I had it to do over, I would have left off the bucket and tooth bar, as I never use it. And if my FEL was already skid steer ready, I could have saved the $695. But I must say that I have gotten my money's worth out of this. It is a land clearing machine!! I have about 6 miles of trails and woods roads to maintain. Every year I had to spend days chainsawing trees and overhanging limbs and dragging them off by hand. And even then, it seemed the roads got narrower and narrower. This year we grappled and uprooted trees to widen the roads. Other overhanging limbs were dropped into the road and "raked" up with the grapple and carried away. We created giant piles of debris. The days of dragging limbs and chainsawed debris are over if you have a grapple.

Harold, thanks for the info. I bet that grapple is the thing to have! I've recently obtained quotes on FEL's with bucket only and the best one has been $4890 installed with the pin-on bucket and $5395 installed for QA. I'm still trying to justify it..we'll see. I'd like to see some pics of that clearing work if you have them or a link to the thread if you've posted one. Thanks.

Jay,

I bought my tractor new. It has the 17 gpm pump (11 gpm to hydraulics and 6 gpm to steering). I added the front end loader one year after buying the tractor.

It is a Bushhog M346 midmount loader. Very Very Strong. With filled tires and a 55 gallon drum of concrete hanging off the 3pt (1100 #) The loader can pick up enough to make you loose traction and flatten the front tires with 40 psi in the 9.5 L15 tires. Lift capacity is 4050# to 59" at the pins. 3500# to 120" at the pins. I paid about $5000.00 for the loader installed with a 6' bucket and hay spear. Make sure you get the Bobcat QA. Bushhog makes their own specific QA and you can only use their products if you get the Bushhog QA.

Your factory pump should have enough GPM to run a loader. Your M4900 is basically the same tractor as the M4800. Same engine etc.... The m4900 had a better seat (armrests) toolbox, draft control, and a few other items that the 4800 didn't.

Ok. Thanks. BTW, mine is also an M4800 as well. M4800 S/U.

Gotcha. Couldn't make our the number on the side of the tractor in the picture. Thought it said 4900.

Jay,

Check with a Bushhog dealer. The 3545 Ag Loader appears to be the same loader that I have. Bush Hog&reg - Performance You Can Count On . It fits really well and I like the loader. It's also made in the Good Ole USA. Right here in Selma, Alabama. Here is a link to dealers in OK. http://207.203.133.195/dlocator/find_zip_code.asp?DLZip=74818&pr_code=3 .

Chris

Chris, thanks a ton for the information. I'll check them out. I'm in the process of getting quotes on different loaders now.

Anytime. I really like Bushhog products. I have a loader, log splitter, and brush cutter (bushhog). They also make a really nice backhoe that I hope to buy one of these days.
