Kubota has upgraded HST Fan Protection

Took my bx2360 to my local dealer after my last post, explained that this appeared to be an issue with a lot of kubota owners. They quoted me a price and then called back to say they had called the factory and would replace my fan at the manufacturers expense. They also said that Kubota was sending a guard to place on the tractor, but I would need to pay the $40 for the part. However they worked it out, I'm satisfied!

I had a close encounter with a stick trying to break my fan. It barely touched the tip of the fan blades. I heard the sound and was sure that I had lost some blades, but luckily that wasn't the case. I had to cut the stick to get it out.

Did you have the deck or one of the new guards?

Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I immeadiately ordered a set of Bro-tek skid plates. The service and products are both superb. Cheap insurance and piece of mind.

I think the new Kubota guard is going to sell a ton of fans for the BX's, put it on and think there's protection and head to the woods. Still too much open space to offer much to ward off sticks from the fan.

True but common sense should say if you are running over limbs all over to maybe clear it better..

I cleared half my property, 3/4 acre, of all the oak trees and some pines...If you use the FEL really well, you should not need a plate...But that is me....

WTG pittsville on having the presence of mind to take a photo first.

I credit participation on this site. Just look at the length of this thread, and it is one of many. Makes me VERY paranoid around little branches when the MMM is off.

I absolutely agree. I read another thread yesterday that made the assumption that Kubota was/is paying attention to blog sites. I hope it's true. Maybe they'll put a steel bladed fan on these 12-15k tractors. I have a good friend that owns a bronze foundry, perhaps a 30 lb bronze fan would be the way to go? I bet I could get him to make me one.

I have the Kubota skid plate as the pictures show. I do feel that the Bro Tek plates would be nice, however I like how the factory issue one lets everything breath. I'm glad that I started on TBN before I puchased, if I have to plunge my BX into the brush, the loader is always low. An ounce of prevention....you know the rest....

Funny how this thread, with 6000+ reads, is still alive after 10 months. :)

Just a theory, with no empirical evidence to back it up whatsoever, but I seriously doubt that Japanese who may have originally designed these subcompact tracts (orange, green, or red) with these types of transmissions and little cooling fans, never fully comprehended how North Americans were going to take these little diesel beasties and put them to tasks in places that would endanger them. In some cases, no design provision was even made for a quick or simple replacement of the broken little white plastic fan. This demonstrates the lack of understanding, comprehension or forward thinking envisioning of which I speak. They just didn't see this coming.

Now, those OEMs are "stuck" with designs that would be somewhat expensive to change. They've sold tens of thousands of these sub cuts, as is.

With the consumer feedback, I might expect a re-do and design change somewhere down the road, but it hasn't happened yet and I'm not holding my breath.

Hey BP,
Nice video/ gardens. We can't seem to get our broccoli to do anything but stretch, and thusly become inedible. Yours looked great. Perhaps you would/could bestow a little gardening knowledge on a frustrasted wanna be? Awesome garden, and we love the organic stuff!!!!
