...but around here, more stoners then drunks.

sadly becoming true here more and more. I watch the police blotter that shows all people arrested in our county for the past 72 hrs ( continously updated ).. a very large percentage are drug based... getting bad..

Yeah...this topic is like the .45ACP vs. 9 mm discussions on gun forums...never ending.

Thats easy, 9mm has less recoil and more rounds in a smaller package.

In the house where size dont matter... 12ga!

All my equipment here on the farm is gear driven, just because that's what I grew up with. At work we have 5 Linde (German) 9500lb. capacity forklifts, Perkins diesels, and all with hydrostatic drive. Linde gave us the choice of a reverse/ forward lever or a two pedal system. We went with the hand lever for familiarity. The oldest two now are 10 years old with 12,000 hours on each. Even though they were $20,000 each more than the Hysters and Cats they replaced, they have paid for themselves again and again in downtime and repair costs, which have been practically zero. With our old forklifts, we had 3 main issues: brakes, transmissions, and clutches. These machines are run by our truck drivers, some of which can fry a heavy truck clutch in a month:shocked:, while another can get 600,000 miles out of a clutch on an identical truck. I don't think anyone can lunch a newer hydro system by operator error or abuse. Lack of maintenance is costly, however.....Dan

You don't have to convince me about the 9mm...that's what I carry. But some dudes (more then a few) just gotta denigrate the 9mm. I think it's a sexual identity crisis on on their part...

Yep, 12 gauge works mighty fine for home defense...not too cool to carry when out and about though.

I swing the other way.. I go for .380 due to being able to get a smaller carry gun.
I now use a kel tec P3AT in the nra test it was the lightest 380 at the time of the article. there was one gun thinner.. ut not lighter. couple that with an open top NAA legal wallet holster and you have a VERY concealable gun with 6+1 capacity.. buy good self defense ammo and you are set. A gun that is easy to be carried will be carried more often than one not easy to carry. :)

for those that think .380 is underpowered... power don't matter if you hit the correct spots...

A Ruger LCP is also in my collection...normally carried as a back up.
And yep, .380 works fine!! I use Hornady Critical Defense...shoots nicely and feeds fine.

But, we're getting off topic!

Again off topic gut I carry the Glock compact 10mm and have a 3130 with gear tranny. They both work for me and the best thing is they make me happy!!:)

I carry a large cannon on the 7520 FEL. It has a gear tranny.

After driving both hydros and manuals I picked the manual for mine and I'm glad I did. Clutch, brake, throttle, all where you'd expect them.

Very easy to drive, with the possible exception of front end loading work, and very efficient with less wasted heat and better fuel economy. More PTO HP with the same engine and easier to work on if I ever have to.

Simple and efficient are good things with tractors.

Not to mention being able to push really hard. Enuf torque transmitted to spin on good ground carrying a hydro its size with loaded tires.
