What is the best attachment you have ever made for your tractor? There seems to be an attachment for everything, but yet somehow it just doesn't do what we want it to do so we modify or build from new something that serves
our purpose somehow a little bit better. I have made a few that serve my purposes very well and I continue to use them.
From what I have seen here on TBN there is a lot of creativity exercised and I have seen many examples of this. A pallet jack turned into a 3PT/FEL forklift is the latest. The homemade grapple out of box blade tines is another favorite of mine. The plethora of carryalls might be the most common and the most individualized. So what is yours?

Nothing out of the ordinary but the hitch I made out of an old truck reciever probabally gets the most use. nice for shuttling trailers short distances. Don't even have to get off the tractor, just backup, raise, move to wherever, and lower. It is also nice for skidding logs. By raising just a little not only helps put more weight over the rear tires (more traction) but it helps the front of the log not to dig in.

The only other thing that I have made is like a middle buster/subsoiler on sterroids. It looks more like a dozer ripper shank. I made it to install a invisible dog fence but have since used it as a root ripper when digging out stumps with the FEL.

Needed a real sturdy fixed hitch for pulling a 10,000 pound trailer with up to 2,000 pounds of tongue weight with a 20 hp tractor. My solution was a bolt on truck hitch with a top link to suspend the tongue weight from the 3pt top link attachment point. Here's a picture.

My most used is the front quick-hitch (either with, or without my three-point hitch mounted). With it, I can put any three-point attachment on the front, including my carryall. Coolest so far is my boom pole (in my humble opinion).

I am debating building something very similar to your carryall. My father is in a wheelchair and visits once a year. There are 5 steps to get into my house, which makes it hard for him. I was thinking I could use something very similar to what your carryall looks like to lift him to where he can just roll out onto the porch.

So far it's my forks. So many uses and I'm adding more to attach to the main frame. Receiver and top trailer ball as well. A boom pole is in the planning stage to adapt to the main frame.

Well, since this is the ONLY attachment I've made so far, I consider it the "best"!! ;)

This is the 3 that I use the most. The carryall or weightbox I use more the others just because I use it with the forks and loader bucket. The trailer has move alot of dirt in the last 7 years, but it sure seems small by the end of the day.

So far my newly made water buffalo to water our trees during dry winters will be my most used homemade implement. I'd rather wrestle with 20' feet of hose versus 300'+ of garden hose as I did in years past. Fully loaded, it weighs in around 1,400 pounds, and and my 3PH has a 1,700 pound rating.

I did a little modification to a big hydraulic powered Spring toothed harrow on wheels to suit my needs....it had been sitting for probably 20+ years when I was giving the thing.
I had to cut in to pieces to move it on my trailer.

The harrow doesn't look that big; is your trailer that small that you had to cut it apart and weld it back together?

I found it interesting that whoever made it used C-channel to fabricate 'square' tubing. I'm guessing they had a lot of channel on hand when it was made.

mjncad,

That is a great attachment. If I plant one more tree, I'm going to need one. I especially like the pallet fork slots and the tool tray.

Is the frame made from tubing?

That picture is after the mod.....it was about 4 foot wider and had hydraulic actuated axles and wheels.

Yes; but I would do it differently to minimize the grinding of welds to make sure the tank sits flat on the frame. Grinding welds sucks.

Thanks for the clarification.

Probably my favorite although not most used is the grapple:thumbsup:. SS QA and rear receiver hitch are the ones I use the most. Forks also; grapple connects to the forks:cool:.

Sorry about the snow in the pics; kind of depressing I know:laughing:
