The dealer got back to me and they say there is no known issues with the brake. I am going to deliver the machine to them tonight and drop off after hours they will look it over and give me an estimate. The insurance co. wants two estimates so I will have to get another one later after I get back from vacation, I need a "brake", pardon the pun:laughing: I will let you all know what the damages total.

How surprising...it's an issue that dates back to at least early 2005...wonder what happened to the complaint that I lodged back then? That should register as at least one complaint on file.

I think it was mentioned earlier Wacky, I'd make your dealer aware of this string so that he can gain a better appreciation for how many people are experiencing / talking about the issue.

Enjoy the "brake", hopefully your dealer will have some "not as bad as it looks" news for you tonight when you drop it off. :D

The insurance co. wants two estimates

I know how to handle this, they play this game all the time.

Tell them it's not mobile, it was towed to the dealership, and you want them to fix it. No other dealership is going to go look at it in this guys shop. Tell them if they want another estimate, they need to hire an independent appraiser. If they do, it will cast them $75, for a guy to come out, and he will most likely copy the dealers estimate. Which they know, so they probably won't bother.

If your firm enough, that will be the end of it.

Why an estimate isn't this a safety issue. ?

That is what I thought, but again, my word against theirs. Unfortunately, they have more money to fight the issue. And since I cannot replicate the issue myself, I am in a hole that I don't have the funds to get out of.

Go figure, maybe it was misplaced?? I would think there is more, but no one followed thru. I am not done researching this, still searching the internet, but have found nothing. I need the machine back so this is the best action for me to take. I am making the insurance company aware of this. They have deeper pockets than I, and if they feel the need to take action to get their money back, then so be it. I believe that until their is a fatality because of this, God forbid, the company will not take any action. Sad, but this is the way of big business. If I cannot "prove" it happened, then it didn't. I did not spend all this money to try and wreck a machine that I store inside and wash every time it is used.

I told them I was going to have the dealer repair it. They told me that is fine they just need 2 estimates to show the damage that was done:confused:, it is my choice where to have it repaired. And if it totals then they will send out a heavy equipment appraiser.

And, you say: No one will go over to the dealer to look at it. You don't have the ability to take it anywhere else. What do you me to do? I will bet no one will do an off site estimate anyway, especially without charging a fee.

I have been dealing with insurance co.'s daily for over 30 years. When they realize they can't get you to do their work, they will fold.

It really doesn't matter because you want the dealer to fix it, so no matter what, they have to get together with him on the price, period.

He won't be able to charge more than what is customary rates for your area, or the insurance co. will tell you to pay the difference, and you will pull it out of there. The dealer knows that, so he can't rob them.

The dealer is doing an estimate, and I am having a local body-shop do one. The owner of the shop said he will go and do one at the dealer N/C, if I am not able to bring to the shop, which I will if need be.

The insurance co. said if I could not get any estimates they would send an appraiser out to my house. Did not mention a charge. But I don't know.

I am not asking for anyone to "rob" anyone or give me anymore, than needs repaired or replaced, to make the machine like it was before the wreck. If they feel they are going to try and "cheat me" and not fix what THEY feel is not part of the wreck, then we will tackle that if that happens.
