The insurance co. said if I could not get any estimates they would send an appraiser out to my house. Did not mention a charge. But I don't know.

If the ins. co. sends a guy out, they will be paying him.

I am not asking for anyone to "rob" anyone or give me anymore, than needs repaired or replaced, to make the machine like it was before the wreck.

I am not sure why you thought I was referring to you here.
I was only pointing out that the ins. co. has a way to keep the dealer from getting fat off it, if he writes the only estimate.

You had not mentioned either the ins. co. being willing to send out an appraiser, or the body shop being willing to come out. When you said: "The insurance co. wants two estimates so I will have to get another one later after I get back from vacation." I was responding to that statement, and trying to help make this easier for you.

my insurance company made it clear that if my 2410 is involved in any kind of worst case scenario and needs replacement, i will be getting a used one for a replacement and certainly not a new one, even though i bought mine new.:(

Sorry to hear about the accident. My experience with the parking brake on a new Kubota turned out better than yours but could have been a disaster. I would set the brake and it didn't feel right. After checking I found that the the ratchet and pawl were not meshing, the pawl was pressing the side of the ratchet. With a little help from an adjustable wrench I bent the ratchet to be inline with pawl. Works fine now.

At the end of the day Wacky the real test will be what your dealer does to make things right. Insurance issues may come into play but in my experience with them the only time you'll experience difficulty is when THEY try to insist that your vehicle reparations are done at a shop THEY recognize as an approved facility.

There are obvious reasons for this, in your post you stated at the end of the day it is your decision where the repairs are completed. I wouldn't worry about your insurance co having any influence over the MF dealer, and that's where the conflicts arise, over what can be repaired and what need be replaced. I once had a RECOGNIZED repair facility tell me they were going to take a car off their lot and cut the front end off at the firewall to make repairs to mine, it was a fight to have them provide the cost estimate for their work to prove it exceeded the blue book value of the vehicle.

I don't think you'll be anywhere near repair costs exceeding the cost of your machine, the only thing I'd make sure your dealer understands is that you want new parts included in the estimate, not repaired / overhauled.

You need to find another insurance company...I have replacement insurance on everything I own...if I total my boat (1992 Wellcraft in immacculate condition) the ins. co. has to replace it with a "NEW" comparable boat. The boat I paid $16K for in 1992 now costs $38K. It's your money and you are paying the premiums...make sure you get what you are paying for. They've already forewarned you that you'll get screwed...get proactive and shop around and ask lots of questions...insurance is one of the biggest "legal" rackets out there...don't allow yourself to be victimized by them.

Wacky...if you purchased your own insurance on your tractor, you should be telling them that you need a rental unit in the interim. Your repair or replacement is going to take awhile. You may want to PM Ray about dealing with them on this issue...he has more experience dealing with the ins. co.'s as I only do client based restoration work and do not deal (nor would want to) with insurance repairs.

The dealer is doing an estimate, and I am having a local body-shop do one. The owner of the shop said he will go and do one at the dealer N/C, if I am not able to bring to the shop, which I will if need be.

The insurance co. said if I could not get any estimates they would send an appraiser out to my house. Did not mention a charge. But I don't know.

I am not asking for anyone to "rob" anyone or give me anymore, than needs repaired or replaced, to make the machine like it was before the wreck. If they feel they are going to try and "cheat me" and not fix what THEY feel is not part of the wreck, then we will tackle that if that happens.

If the insurance company sends an appraiser-you will not be charged. The appraiser is there to protect the interests of the insurance company not you.

I told them I was going to have the dealer repair it. They told me that is fine they just need 2 estimates to show the damage that was done:confused:, it is my choice where to have it repaired. And if it totals then they will send out a heavy equipment appraiser.

Most repair shops will do a free appraisal.

Yes, most shops do free appraisals.

But that normally does not include estimates where they have to come to you.

Each area is different, and if a guy is hungry enough. he may do anything.

But, off site estimates generally turn into a very low percentage of jobs, for a number of reasons, so shops usually don't like to do them.

I appreciate your input and I realize nobody wants to give out money for anything, even if you have insurance. And I am sure they are going to try and save as much money as possible. I have both estimates, they were done today, ready.......$9019.28 and one was a few hundred more. That is about 1/2 of what the purchase price was! The frame is going to need replaced, they said the loader may have it in a bind and will not know for sure until the insurance co. gives the ok.
