Curiously i had to 'adjust ' the crab on mine and noticed that bottom of the carb bowel has some sort of electrical componant to it any idea what it is or does?

There may be more in this invention article that you ever wanted to know about that electrical device on the bottom of the carb.:D

Carburetor with a fuel shut off solenoid - US Patent 6401685 Description

To put it simply it is a fuel shut off. when you turn on the switch you should hear a click from it. it has a small plunger in it that will let the gas flow thru to the carb. when you turn the switch off it closes it. zman:cool:

It is commonly referred to as an anti-backfire solenoid. Frequently causes problems when carb gets gummed up and the little plunger sticks. Clean with a little carb cleaner and they're usually good to go.

Chopped: This is very agravating, but I went back to the Troy-Bilt website and could not find the service manual. I know it was there a week or so ago because I printed a copy. Have they possibly removed it in the meantime? Maybe. Or maybe I'm losing my ability to navigate these funky websites. My suggestion is to call a help number and get a customer service person to help you. That is if you can get a human on the phone.

I went to try to find it for you also, but I forgot that Troy-Bilt wants part # & Ser #.

Here's a link to the manual search page.

Now I remember what happened.....duh. I got a copy of the owners manual from the Troy-Bilt website. The mower has a Kohler engine. I got the service manual from the Kohler website. Let me know if you have any problems finding either.

Just curious if you can tell me if yours makes a ''whine'' sound when in gear and moving? I know they dont have gears per say just some sort of variable pulleys.
