Not much to show. Had a township official plan that indicates I have some Primary Aggregate on my property so I went digging this weekend. Mostly found bolders but will dig further into the hill side. Anyway on the way home I picked up 100 feet of 6" conveyor belting to use for the tracks. ($150+tax). Yes there will be a drive wheel. Its the next hurdle I need to tackle. Probably need to get a couple of 12inch dia round plates 1/2 inch cut so I can make some drive gears.

I will be busy much of the next 3 weeks so expect slow progess.

Progress is slow. Too much going on and its been Cooking Hot up here in Toronto, Canada. Anyway I had a chance to put 6 hours into it today. Previously I machined some Weld on Hubs to fit the tight confines of the rear drives. These assemblies will be Welded onto the back of the track frames and braced with some 1/4 wall 2.5 inch angle. I will be cutting 9 teeth into the wheels which are 2x1/4 inch plate or 1/2 inch thick when welded together after teeth cut. I off on vacation for a couple of weeks so its going to be slow progress.

Not wanting to burst your bubble, BUT, I hope you aren't in a hurry using this. I have a Yanmar tracked dumper. It has a 10hp Yanmar diesel. Ground speed is 3mph empty. It is about 1/3 the size of your machine and made of much lighter material.

So far my bubble is still intact. Your Yanmar has twice the operating weight at 1,600 lbs and 1/2 Horse Power of my machine. 3mph is a good speed for something with no suspension and likely limited for operator saftey. Your unit is 9 feet long but only 3 ft wide. I am aming for 4'x8' My 12hp Kubota subcompact at 7mph is too fast for my back. I am actually counting on my tracked dumper to work in the snow with a track width of 14.5 inches.

Found one day to work on the tracked dumper. Installed one motor assembly and mocked up a track. Approx. 17 1/2 feet and will require 60 feet of steel for each track.

Progress seems slow but hopefully things will come together soon. A ton of work making up track shoes, making drive wheels. I have ordered 500 sets of nuts, bolts, washers and lock washers for the tracks. Not counting welding supplies, I am into my tracks to the tune of $400 now. I have upgraded to a 10 gallon Hydraulic tank from an earlier 5 gallon. Getting difficult to package everything so I am going up and up. At 4 feet wide most of the weight will be within 3 feet of ground but I will be sitting about 42 inches off the ground so a ROPS system will be a must. I have made up about 30 track shoes with another 90 to go.

Looking good Dave.
That's one of the hardest things for me on a project like you're doing...the manotony of making the same pieces over and over. :(

Please take lots of pix of the track assembly as I'm having difficulty picturing how the track is going to be assembled.

Have you given thought to adding carrier wheels for the top of the track? With the length and potential weight, one or two may not be a bad choice.

So are you just using that rubber for the track and putting the steel underneith for the drive? If so, you may want some way of adding tread to the track so you wont be sliding if the ground is wet or icy.
