I think everyone's just keeping the thread alive until you have updates. A tactical plan of thread life support.:D

Well she's at the dealer now and will be for another week or so. The only thing to wait for is the final bill! :(

Sorry, bottom line is you have a choice to weld or buy new. The point is that cast iron can be welded relatively easily which makes welding is a viable option.

Rob

No problem, was just kidding. Glad my idiocy has facilitated a good discussion.

I say I would have had mine welded; but in reality I probably would have done what you did. I hate to worry about stuff every time I use it. But the bad thing is I seem to worry about things that have been fixed by someone else anyway. I hate to feel that way but it seems like a lot of the dealers hire $10 per hour help that I just don't trust. Before everyone starts; I know there are a lot of great mechanics out there, it just seems like they never work on my stuff.:mad:

I have complete faith in this particular dealer. They work on a lot of large farm equipment and the shop is busy and quite large.

Personally I also think you went the right path.

The part isn't even in yet so it will be a while before I get her back. I did send off for John Deere insurance. It was only $237 for total coverage for 4 years with a $500 deductible. Sure glad I spent $1500 to learn that! :(

Where did you find out about the JD Insurance? I might be interested. I have a new 2520 and I can see me doing something I wish I hadn't.

So does the JD Ultragard cover this type of damage?

it states:

UltraGard is no-hassle, immediate coverage that provides protection for damage caused by severe weather, vandalism, overturn, collision or theft.

Damage resulting during box blading does not fall under any of these catagories...???

Just curious - since I'd be interested in the protection if its covered
