My Harbor Freight Quick Hitch

I modified my HF QH, replacing the bolts holding the upper hooks with slide-in pins that have hairpin clips so they don't slide back out. It's easier to set the top hook higher or lower, or in one case upside down, to attach the implements.

When I went to mow real uneven ground, climbing the terraces between my orchard rows, I looped a chain around the top of the QH and top of the mower's hitch so the gap where the top hook should be, can open up to three inches. Then I shortened the tractor's toplink 3 inches. This lets the mower follow the ground contour better.

Here's a photo I posted previously. It shows that 3 inch gap closed temporarily due to the extreme angle between the tractor and the mower.

An upside-down top hook or the chain loop might work for you instead of modifying anything.

Has anyone drilled out the lower holes where the rockshaft arms hook to the QH? I am thinking of drilling them out to match my cat 2 pin hole on my tractor. Not drilling out the hooks just the shaft hole that hook to the tractor.

does any one else make the adapter kit for the QH, Harbor freight is out until sept-oct. Tractor supply has one but I called customer service and they could not help me cause it comes as a whole kit

Instead of irretreivably modifying the QH, I wonder if you could put Cat 1/2 adapter sleeves inside the tractor ball holes to do this adapting.

Also, the entire end of the tractor's arms might be too long or wide to fit in the cavity on the QH. I would measure this before modifying anything.

the problem is that these pins are "cat0" and cat 1 wont fit on them without a lot of play. So i think I will at some point just drill them out to 2 two to keep them from bouncing around inside and wearing out.

I am not following where you are going with this the rockshaft arms are already in the hitch? I am mainly ref to the lower arms. The upper hook just needs the adapter

Eh? I thought you were asking about drilling and replacing the QH's cat1 lower pin holes, so you could use your present cat2 pins to install the QH onto your cat2 arms. If that is what your trying to do, then using the QH's pins slipped into cat1/2 sleeves might do the job more simply.

I just got my QH also and I drilled the lower holes out to fit cat 1 pins. This was for two reasons. First to take out the play because of the under sized pins and where I could install longer pins so I could use my stabilizer bars.
I'm also in need of the top adapter.

You guys must have gotten a different hitch from Harbor Freight than I did. I only used mine for a couple of months and the hitch bent out on both sides because of the soft and thin steel where the hitch actually couples to the implement on the bottom. It bent so far that one side of the mower dropped out. I was running a Hause 6' rotary in light brush on a 4120 JD and every time I turned, it bent some more. I finally took it back. I passed up a JD QH that was used for about $25 bucks more and I'll wait till I can find another one like that.

The post above is the first I've read of someone tearing one up. Has anyone else with a 40 hp or smaller tractor done this too?
