My brother (who has a really heavy 2WD tractor with weighted Ag tires - both calcium and steel) says my B3200 with filled R4's (4WD) will never pull a single bottom plow.

I don't know much about pulling a plow as I have never done it before but I am trying to put in a really simple french drain (sloppy parking spot) and was thinking of using a potato plow (a couple of runs) but also thought maybe a "garden plow" (sorry i dont know the correct term but I think it is moldboard plow?) might be a better alternative and then I would have a plow I might use in the spring too.

Any ideas? Anyone using a B3200 or smaller with a pull behind garden plow?

Of course a B3200 can pull a plow. The plow would have to be appropriate in size, but heck yes!! Now, that' not to say that is the most efficient way to put that french drain in.

Your brother doesn't have much appreciation for your machine. Brothers can be like that.:D:D

I pulled a single bottom moldboard plow with a JD 2210 and r4's. It worked ok, but wouldn't be something you'd want to do everyday. You'll do fine!

You'll dig a deeper trench, in my opinion, with a long shanked middle buster. Cheaper to buy, useful in the future.

Shouldn't have problem,if you have doubt try half cut follow by full cut.

Thanks guys - What do you think of a potato plow?? I do like to plant potatos too and I am trying to use this tool one time and try to use it later.

Oh and I think you are right brothers can be like that - Especially older brothers!

Here is a middle buster/potato plow. This was on Kubota's smallest tractor. Your B3200 would handle a much deeper shanked plow with deeper results. Anyhow, it is what I used to plow my gardens. Works great. Photo #2 is of plowed field. Last photo is middle buster being used as potato plow. I used it to dig almost 500 lbs of potatoes. Very useful tool and dirt cheap, pun intended.

If you do decide to go with a moldboard plow something along the line of a Leinbach 19-12 compact plow is what I would go with. It's got good 3pt hitch geometry for a small tractor, and one 12" bottom you could pull in almost any conditions. The only problem I could see is that the 12.4-16 R4 tires are over 12" wide so they wouldn't fit in a 12" wide furrow very well (only a problem if you are actually using it for a plow however.) With that said, a middle-buster would be much cheaper and might work better for your project.

I tried putting my 2-14 spring trip moldboard plow on my B3200 just to see if it would work. The plow was so tall that with the 3pt raised it only lifted the plow about 3" off the ground. Also my B3200 was so narrow that I could have never had the tires in the furrow and still cut 2 14" swaths. It's a much better fit on my NAA.
