Here's a picture of my firewood stack. It is about 5-6 cords and only takes up 10' in diameter area.

Moss - that's a pretty neat looking stack. How tall is it? Do you cover it or let the rain filter down thru it?
What's in the middle.....a donut hole??!

Thanks for the heads up about storing wood next to my house. I'm going to have to think about where I want to store it now. I didn't even think about bugs, which is kind of embarrasing considering that I rebuild walls a few times a year due to termite damage. :ashamed:

I looked up the clearances for the stove, and the biggest distance to to keep the stove away from the wall is 6 inches from the corners when mounting the stove in the corner of the room. I measured out an area of four square feet and then cut off the front corner so I'll have 30 inches at a 45 degree angle.

I then cut out the wood and installed busted up tile. I bought 16 twelve inch tiles in 7 different colors.

You know I think I've seen that tile idea before but never realized how it was done.

8'. Top covered with tarp. Sides open for air circulation. Solid wood all the way through. Ground sprayed with bug spray. First few courses sprayed with bug spray. Once a month spray around the edge with bug spray. Did I mention bug spray?

Carpenter ants are the biggest problem around here. Industrious little critters, for sure.
