David!....do you plan on installin' a lift/angle cylinders on that Great lookin' heavy duty plough?....I agree... it's lookin' real good everytime I see your tracked machine....nothin' wrong with paintin' it green neither.....my favorite color... I really always liked John Deere green/yellow....I'm not too sure you would use their two tone yellow trim...but....

would sure look good on that nice old plough of yours....of the two I previously owned and have since sold....the 48" graderblade was red and black and my first bought used little Craftsman 42" snowblade was painted black...I repainted them both usin' a rustproof gloss yellow and trimed the wear bars with the same rustproof gloss black.....one thing about the color change... most people noticed me comin' and stepped out my way...sometimes I had to honk the horn for the elderly.:D keep up the good work.

"David" your doin' a fine job as always..first pic is the 42" Craftsman and in the second pic you can see a bit the 48" heavy duty graderblade..I didn't think it be nessessary at the time to use grey primer.... so a little red is shinin' through in some places.... to you and your family.... please take care....Ampa<>

When a person with the name JohnDeerexxxx says are you gonna paint it Red? I have to reply green. Actually it will likely be tremclad black, cause thats what I have. You have to be witty. Like when looking at your pictures I could not help but wonder if people are stealing trees in your area, cause you chained one to a tractor.:)

I just bought a 2011 Silverado WT 1/2 ton 4x4. A regular cab 4x4. Now I am consumed with bed liner, spray liner, rubber mat etc. Will likely be a couple more weeks before any progress on the tracked dumper.

With the tracked dumper, I have ditched the spring track tensioners and may try usings small hydraulic cylinders filled with grease. Pump them up to tighten the track.

The blade will be 4 way but as this thing will not be fast and need to push sand (after I dump it), I am not putting in trip mechanism. I will likely put on some track sliders but as my driveway has a crown, not sure if one in the centre or three will be required for plowing snow?

I've seen ones like it with about a 5 yard bed around here. I wonder if you could rent something in your area? Then again, with the luck you've been having with the rain, renting may not work all that well either. Getting any breaks in the weather?

I gave up for this year on the pond, getting to cold, I don't like messing with mud on frozen tracked machines. I hope to get everything up and running next summer.

These tracked dumps seem to me to be a good machine for moving dirt out of ponds. Like others have wrote not sure if they'd be any good in deep muck, but I bet they'd be better then trying use a dump truck in a pond :p

You'll still probably want some type of spring release on the tensioners, otherwise when a rock or something gets up into the track it won't have any flex, which inturn could cause major issues.

The front and rear road wheels are spring suspended, as well the tires are air filled so they should allow for some flex. My target speed is in the 5-8mph range so hopefully it will hold together. I picked up two 6inch stroke snow plow cyinders to use as track tensioners. ($31 ea)

Managed to spend a few hours in the garage today as well as spend $600 on some Pressure relief and directional control valves. I supersized everything in case I find a bigger engine and can crank the pump up more down the road. I installed the snowplow cylinders to tension the track.

Slow progress, getting cold up here in Canada. I now have my hydraulic tank sorted out. All kinds of great advise on tank sizing etc. So I decided to augment my 10 gallon tank with a 5 gallon I had. So I installed the 5 gallon on top of the ten gallon, raised the 10 gallon breather above the 5 gallon tank and welded on another port to make it all happen. I know a picture is work a thousand words, but the PA tech gave me the wrong size suction hose so its not quite complete. Anyway this gives me two breathers for air evacuation and about another 8 square feet for heat dissapation. The Stacy dude on one of those trucking shows made a muffler so I am going to try to make one so I can start up the Engine soon.

Oh ya I also took the advise and bought paste instead of teflon tape so will see how that works out on all the NPT fittings

Hi David....I always use the paste on all pipe fittings steel/brass...I used the Princess AutoTeflon paste on all my hydraulic pipe thread fittings and didn't have no leakage whats so ever....I'm now working on my 2 cyl. 11 cubic ft. @ 90 lbs air compressor..... removed an old 10 gal tank... I installed temporary when I first put it together...... had already bought a $300.00 (20 gal.) tank from Princess Auto about two months ago and added two heavy duty wheels as well for portabilty....

I know by the time I get finished I could have bought a complete factory built unit much cheaper to get the same output of @ least (11 cubic ft per inch or more @ 90 lbs)but these compressors all had the 60 gal. stationary upright tank....I need the portabilty feature....anyhow glad to see your gettin' things in order...you'll soon have er done....I'm so glad my projects finished...Oh' by the way David..I bought a hammer drill so I can install my tire changer and switch that left front tire with the arrow pointing backwards :D..take care Ampa :)
