What is E-Hydro?

Re: What si E-Hydro?

Laughable. With that kind of logic anything that is mechanical will fail sooner or later too, give me a break.

Laugh all you want. Every time you add a layer of complication you increase the failure rate.

Do any of y'all still use rotary phones. Ha. Just joking.

I realize it was a joke, but even in the boonies where I live and they have to tighten the string between the tin cans, a rotary phone won't work any more. It's all tone now.

^^^^^

I think they have gone high tech in the boonies and now use SpiderWire between the tin cans.

You're probably right! That's how they're able to turn corners with it.

Hey Riverrat, as a matter of fact I still have a rotary phone downstairs in the Model T garage of our '50s era bungalow. It works fine as long as I don't get too many metal particals on it from the grinding wheel next to it. Then I go out to the shed across the street and get in my new 4720 & rock & roll in the modern era.

I've never tried it, but I expect that a rotary phone would work fine on a tone system for incoming calls.

I do shoot a pump shotgun not an automatic. Glad yall have a sense of humor. Variety is the spice of life.

Let's hear it for those bulletproof electrolytic capacitors.

It's mechanical, the ABS is electronic. Ask yourself this, if the ABS fails, what is left?

You're not alone, I'm not a skin flint, but I can be very happy with the KISS principle. Someone mentioned 0s and 1s along with, "Every time you add a layer of complication you increase the failure rate." If you lose a 0, then what? Yes, it's mostly programming at that point, but not everything has to be electronic or digital. Personally, I don't like the costs of high technology. That's my 2 cents, got to go out now and reboot the truck.

P.S. - rotary phones still work on most systems.

One of the reasons I own a non-turbo tractor is because of the extra parts. BUT, they are mechanical parts adding to a mechanical system.

I think everyone will agree that today's TV's are much more complex but who wants to go back to a round picture tube from 1950?
Anyone here want to give up their laptop for a typewriter and snail mail?
What we're talking about is technology. Whether it's an LCD TV or ABS, both are better systems. Air bags save lives, are they complex? Sure. I like my plain mechanical lathes but when you need one there's nothing like CNC or the controlled arc of a TIG welder.

K7LN I have a K2, it beats the pants off my old Heathkits. Is it more complex? You bet! Want to give up an automatic antenna tuner? I think I'll keep mine.

Icom 756pro3 here. I am not giving up my spectrum display, or fast, quiet, fully automatic antenna tuner, even tho most of the componets in the radio are Surface Mount Devices, and you need a microscope to see them. Nothing mechanical in the radio, not even the volume control, the control just tells the microprocessor where to set the audio, I can control everything from the pc just as easy. I think complex things are here to stay:)
