As someone who has to use a vise and hammers to bend metal, I love seeing your various presses- especially the Ironworker! Since I don't do stuff for money, just out of need, I usually don't have just the tools I need. I sure have a mottley collection of tools and small machines, and I appreciate professional equipment. I haven't had a dog since I was 5 years old, but I liked reading about the virtues of dogs. Keep posting- lots of us really enjoy seeing what's new with Specialty Repairs.

Thanks varmint, jayste and tommu56 for your comments. I was taking a little break from posting or maybe I was giving you all a break from my posting

I'm of the opinion that a person who is talking all the time don't have much to say so I figured I'd let someone else have a crack at it for awhile. That being said, varmint said he'd like to see what's new here but there's really nothing new. Still busy so for just for the heck of it I'll post on the jobs in the shop so far today.

The first job was on a government vehicle. The second job was on these stainless parts off a factory freezer ship that was brought in with worn shafts.

New shafts were machined and then the old ones were removed and the new ones tigged on. I attached a few steps and some close ups of the welds to bore you with.;)

The next job is the last pic so far today and it's some basic repairs on a SUV. That's it so far. Have a look. Thanks for your posts guys

That flange on the shaft is a work of art. Nice to hear from you, buddy. :)

Nice work! I can't believe how pretty those welds are.

The only issue I have with this story is "what's a baler doing in Newfoundland?" I thought you only grew rocks there.

Thank you. I get lucky and do a good weld once in awhile  Great to see your still around as well

Thank you as well. It's all in the equipment. I'm just kept on here to plug it all in :D

Your right about Newfoundland and all it's rocks BUT we found this one field that had hay on it. That was four years ago and we haven't left the field yet due to all the fun we're having with the baler

Hey Mr. Paul, sir...
Remember me asking about your positioner? Was that what you used to make that nice weld all around the flange?
Just wondering... :D

Yes my buddy. It was the result of the positioner. The trick is to know what speed to set the rotation. Also know the right set up for the welding equipment, have a steady hand and the rest is easy

Jeez! So, one foot on the TIG control, the other foot on the positioner speed, and the other other foot on the camera shutter?

I've often wondered how to get that consistent weld. Don't move the gun... move the piece. How cool is that?

Thanks Paul. Some of my welding is getting better enough to have me grind away some of the really bad stuff and weld it again. 'Course I'm not welding using a mirror over my shoulder or anything like that! Maybe next year. My LWH (lucky welding hat) is really helping out. :D
