Cell phone jammers

The trouble with jamming cell phone signals is this...
What if an on-call doctor is in the movie theater?
What if someone on an organ transplant list is watching her grand daughter's play at school?
What if an expecting mom goes into labor?
What if your spouse has a heart attack?
What if your child has a medical emergency?

Yes, lots of people are idiots. But would you want any of the above scenarios on your conscience?

Cell phones are great gadgets, but peoples' lack of courtesy when using them is abysmal. Idiotic (and lengthy) ringtones aggravate the ill manners.

Me...standard (short) rings...goes on vibrate when I'm in the office and gets turned off during any meetings. Just good manners, that's all...

You are right, but if it was posted that a jammer was in use? I often wonder how some people can talk on the phone as much as they do. An average call for me is less than 5 min. And 2-3 calls per day

Hmm. I wonder.. how were emergency calls handled before everybody and their dog had a cell? Oh thats right... call the office, movie theater, restaurant whatever and have the person paged so they could have their conversation in private without disturbing the rest of the place.

I say jam away... schools (especially), restaurants. movies. stores. wherever.... at least on private property. Put a big sign up "Jammers in use" and let the people decide if they want to go in.

We used to have a phone in one of our clean rooms back when photo scanners were really expensive. About 4 different people worked in that room. We needed to call people to ask about details of the jobs we were scanning. One moron kept using the phone for personal use. Instead of dealing with the problem person, the supervisor removed the phone. Everyone suffered because the supervisor had no spine. Theaters should deal with the problem the old fashioned way... send an usher down there with a flashlight and tell them to be quiet or leave.

I am primary on-call 24/7 every fourth week and backup on call 24/7/365. I need to check my messages as I get them, except when driving. I pull over if I am more than 5 minutes from my destination(small town, 5 minutes is usually more than 1/2 way there! :laughing: ). The only time I turn the phone off is if I am in church. I have several hundred co-workers and 80,000 customers depending on me. As long as I do not disturb anyone else, who gives a hoot? I have no problem telling someone to be quiet in a movie theater or staring at someone talking loudly in line at the grocery store to the point they become agitated. I'll probably get my rear end kicked some day for that. :laughing:

Here in SC the prison systems are actively trying to get the FCC to let them use cell phone jammers, so far they haven't been successful.
I can guarantee in no case can a private citizen legally use one for any reason, it is federal law and a state cannot override that.

Why in the h$!! would any prisoner be allowed to have a cell phone. They are in prison not at the mall!

They are not allowed to have them. They smuggle them in, just like drugs.

Some of the inmates have Big $$$ buniness going on outside the Big House.. Some guards are willing to sell cell phones for Big $$$...

They just need to have the engineer design the prisons that designed our building at work.:laughing:
If you get 20 ft from an open door or 5' from a out side wall they are dead except for the "cordless" phones we use and the system that we have repeaters on.
