It still does not sound normal to me. I would be cautious with just leaving it the way it currently sounds unless you get some assurance from you dealer or JD that they will fix it later. (You won't get that assurance.) Once it is out of warranty, it may become your problem to fix. Try another dealer or keep after the current dealer. The squeal is from something slipping. If you are not using high rpm to start the mower and you hear that squeal at lower rpms, then I suspect something is not normal. Again, this is assuming the squeal is from the tractor and not the mower. My 4520 will kill the motor before any squeal comes from the tractor when using heavy start up of a 10' rotary mower.

I have talked to many of the wonderful people here at TBN through out the day and of the several people I have talked to I am the only person that has ever experenced this problem that owns a 4x20. I am convinced there is something wrong and I will start my own Squelching starting tomorrow. I will start trying to deal with corp since I have lost faith in my dealer.

I have found out a few things since my last post
1- the dealer i was using never changed ownership of the tractor to my name like he told me he had (I bought tractor with 20hrs). That is what has made this take so long.
2- the dealer also lied about even splitting the tractor to change the dampner. They never touched the tractor with a tool.
3- You can't name dealers or their employees you have disputes with in this forum. OOPS
4- I have the only documented case of a JD 4000 series with noise at pto engagement. This case is documented and JD will work with my new dealer if failure occurs. JD is refusing to just start replacing parts and are unable to answer how long they will stand behind (5days or 20yrs I have no idea)
I need some thoughts here guys

Sounds like you are covered, and can move on now. That would be my thoughts and what I would do. Try to isolate the "squelching" as to when, how, more/less, when cold vs warm air temps and oil temps. I can only imagine what a "squelch" sounds like, and have no idea if that is the same sound you are hearing. :)
Document the behaviour and figure you have your back covered if something happens.

I have a 4320 with MX6 brush hog. It has a very loud squeal when I first engage the pto. That is the slip clutch noise I am hearing. It has always done it, it seems normal to me now. The clutch has to slip before locking up, it sounds like metal to metal contact. I have over 600 hours on the tractor, it hasn't changed at all since the day it was delivered brand new.

The dealer thought that was my problem also till I put my 6' bushhog on one of his tractors and there was no noise. I wish that was my problem.

I would keep pushing to get it fixed before warranty runs out unless you can get something in writing from JD or dealer that they will fix it later. Start documenting what you have done, what they have said (dealer and JD). Especially who you talked with at the dealer and JD. I am surprised JD and dealer are not addressing this problem if it is under warranty. The squeal is not normal. It is time to force the issue before the warranty expires.
My dealers know if I have a complaint, it is legitimate and they fix it. This delay tactic would not sit well with me.

JD supervisor told me they WOULD NOT just start replacing parts till the noise stops as they don't know what it is. I am extremely upset but where else do I complain. I don't know what pay grade is above the supervisor. The last supervisor wouldn't even let me talk to a tech to maybe ease my mind. I also ask to speak to her boss and she refused saying the buck stopped with her and since I have the ONLY 4000 series tractor with this, they will do nothing.
JD says till it stops turning the shaft there is not ANYTHING wrong with the tractor.
