The cost of Hydraulic hose's ... WOW!!

Okay, crimping hoses is serious business here too. Our shop had a real nice crimper setup. Our 80 ft boom truck needed a new hose on the upper lift arm. Well,we used the truck up to 60 feet, and started down for lunch,the entire fitting shot off the new hose.It whipped around dumping fluid and the safety catch stopped the boom. Pucker factor went sky high and then we cleaned up 50 gals of fluid. Granted it is just a tractor so when would it be a good time to blow a fitting or hose? I also avoid Chinese rep parts, it is impossible to tell how well they were tested, or strength? Jy.

Thank you for Princess Auto in Canada. If I had to pay $350 for for 4 hoses I would not be playing with Hydraulics. 3/8 hose is 1.79 a foot. Crimping and cleaning is free.

Prices are generally 25% higher in Canada to pay for our free Health Care.

Hi David....I paid $1.79 per ft. a few days ago @ Princess Auto for 1/4" 2 wire crimped no charge..I was told this hose was a much better grade from another supplier....hows is your track machine comin' along?.....finally got mine all workin'...just need to clamp the hoses to the side of tractor and rear fender..Oopps sorry David... I made a slight boo boo..$179.00 per ft. would make anyone cry...or just forget about usin' hydraulics altogether...thanks for pointin' it out to me..I corrected it...you can stop cryin now.....take care...Ampa <>

Ampa, you made me sit down and cry and I know you mean 1.79. I was at PA tonight. I need 26 hoses (56 fittings), 3 relief valves, one flow control and one flow splitter. Hoping I can get it all for $1,750.00. I have not worked on the machine for three weeks on account I bought a new truck. You know, plywood in the bed, lying on my 50 yr old back undercoating it. Brake controller etc.

I wish alot more of this bartering/trading was done ,in my area no one would even think of doing this and I think its a shame. I would love to build say a piece of furniture or weld something or paint something for the guy to make some hoses for me.

It never hurts to ask, they can only say no but it might even get their wheels turning for next time. I have used seafood a lot for bartering but almost anything you have extra of someone somewhere wants. I even bartered seafood for legal services, only dealing I ever had with a lawyer that I was actually happy about.

I was charged by the inch ... $0.47 or $5.64 a foot ... It was my fault for not asking. Ya know what they about assuming ....

Not kidding. Charged a reasonable price, every customer but 1 in my 2 years of business that left my shop was happy. And all the local businessmen told me I could have given the guy a hose and he would still complain. Gave free advice all the time. What happened? I got pooped on. Felt bad for some people and gave them a great break. My wife goes into town a couple weeks later and sees their truck at my competition and they're walking out with hoses and oil. I hate the public. All everyone does is complains no matter how you treat them. Just wait people, you will deserve everything you get.
I have a load of stock if anyone is interested.

Wow, sorry to here this.....unfortunately this is a story I've heard before....what was that saying "Nice Guys Finish Last"......I'm sure you did your best...

I had an electrician tell me once that the word on the street is you guys are doing a great job, but they'll never tell you that.....they're afraid you'll go up on your prices.....

Sometimes we just need a little positive reinforcement to keep us going....
