The cost of Hydraulic hose's ... WOW!!

I have a Kioti DK55, put grapple bucket on the fel,got the hoses from my dealer (the QC fittings were wrong),went to Internet for the correct fittings. My question is about running the hoses from the rear/remote dissconnects,to the front, went under the tractor, looks like he'll,was wondering if anyone has any advice or pictures of how it should be done?

Generally, you can reuse a section of hose, as long as you cut off the damaged section, and attach the new fittings properly. You should also try and clean out the hose if possible. There may be a lot of dirt and debris in there, and if you can't be sure your hose is clean, it's not worth saving a few dollars at the risk of damaging more expensive components.

In the case you've described, I would run fast in the other direction. I would never reuse a hose from a piece of burned out equipment in a junkyard. The hose may appear OK to you, but is it really?

You can buy 1/2" ID SAE 100R2AT Hydraulic Hose for less than $1.50 per foot. Is saving $15 to $20 really worth the risk of used hose from a questionable source.? At best, a hose failure and leak of a few quarts of hydraulic fluid would probably cost you more than you saved. At worst, you wind up contaminating your system and having to replace something a LOT more expensive than a few feet of hydraulic hose.

I was out of town for a few days and just got back and read your replies.
Thanks guys. I leave the hoses where they lie.

Not kidding. Charged a reasonable price, every customer but 1 in my 2 years of business that left my shop was happy. And all the local businessmen told me I could have given the guy a hose and he would still complain. Gave free advice all the time. What happened? I got pooped on. Felt bad for some people and gave them a great break. My wife goes into town a couple weeks later and sees their truck at my competition and they're walking out with hoses and oil. I hate the public. All everyone does is complains no matter how you treat them. Just wait people, you will deserve everything you get.
I have a load of stock if anyone is interested.

Sorry to hear you are no longer in business:mad:. I've seen you're previuos posts, good advice. I hope it was not the one bad apple that took you down.

I sympathize with WCH as business is tough out there....The world has become this "Walmart Mentality" whereas you can get anything you want for less money and take anything back for return and complain to get something for nothing....

Myself I've tried to stay out of price wars when it comes to selling something....It probably cost me some jobs but being the cheapest just to make the sale makes the only winner the consumer....not the retailer....

When someone comes to my establishment with troubles, I figure I am not selling a product but rather a service to get them going.....if it means them paying more for the prompt proper service then sobeit .....When I go to a restaurant to order good food I don't complain that I know what they are paying for a pound of steak or chicken.......they provide a service that I want....I could make it at home but I want to pay for the service.....

Kinda like making hoses......these local guys that stock hose/fittings/adapters hoping for a sale to walk thru the door are going out on a limb to be prepared for other peoples dilemas.....they buy equipment, inventory, rent space, outfit a shop, train themselves and their employees.....A huge undertaking and responsibility......Heaven forbid if something goes wrong......

In order for a business to survive to takes a lot of expertise, money and thick skin.......

Sorry for the rant......:(

Not a rant at all......better to pay a little more and deal with a seller that has integrity and knowledge. I just had an experience where the prices were good, but the service and attitude left a lot to be desired.

I not sure how my previous reply got in your conversation/thread, but I am reading your dilemma , I would had gladly paid to have the correct hoses made and installed. The hose company in my area(Danbury,Ct) went out of business, and the kioti dealer In my area seams to be useless!

Hey Judgejohn, Which hose place went out? I'm in the area and a few places we had for hoses just moved. Sam Dallas is in Brookfield, A couple guys from BMB opened their own shop on Danbury, T&G is the name.

Didn't mean to point any fingers as every situation is different.....certainly as a smart shopper we all need to get our money's worth in every case...

But sometimes cheaper is not always better.....having pro advice from guys like WCH that make them as you wait is does add value to your project....yes it will cost more but then again, what is the final project.....does it work right?....does it look good?....did I wait days for the UPS truck?.... do I have to return these back cuz of the wrong ends?...could this install been done with less adapters between th hose and component?....maybe a few elbows to clean up the routing?....

There are definetly some profit taking hose makers that do not understand hydraulics and these places don't have the added value of "Hydraulic Advice" that's given out freely by the Pros......

I was talking about Mobile brake and hydraulic,in Brthel. I didn't know you could go to Samuel Dallas, thought they were bearings, good to know.

Your right. When I bought my grapple bucket, I thought I was going to go to a pro/hydraulic place and watch the guy make up the lines, when I went there the place was gone and I had to try to figure it outt myself, using these forums and TSC and even the (as one poster suggested) army Manuel on hydraulics.
