I noticed on the Harbor Freight site that a number of people had re-powered Troybilts with their 6.5 HP Greyhound engine.

Seems to get pretty good reviews for being a brand "X" machine. It's anybody's guess how it'll stand up in the long run, but for the cost, who cares?

As I said in a previous post I used that engine on (2) tillers I had handed down to me in the family. Those Greyhound Engines are the easiest starting small engines I have ever used.

I tilled up a small area before putting them both away for the winter and I can tell you they have all the power the tiller needs. As for the long haul, if I get a few years out of each one they will have paid for themselves. I paid $99.00 each for them when they had them on sale. Can't beat that!

sounds like a good repower.i have an old troy horse with a 7 hp kohler and it starts on 1 pull.

When the Greyhound engines are in the flyer they are sometimes listed for $99 you can use the 20% off coupon too at the store. Got mine for $79 a few months ago. I am pretty sure they are in the flyer for $109 and there is a 25% off coupon for "Thursday only" guess they want Thanksgiving Day business

If you are thinking of a run to HF, before you go, run a Google search on "Harbor Freight 20% coupon" and you will find online links to ones you can print and bring with you. They always have one running, as far as I can tell.
