To each is his own,, them are the people that probably use 2 stroke oil in there car engines it's oil it'll will work right?
Cold weather stihl in MO...8.78
BBBBBBBBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIt's oil, and the only difference is the tackiness.
It's oil, and the only difference is the tackiness. Regular oil slings around more and runs out quicker but it still lubricates the chain... Them are the people that probably don't know the difference between a screwdriver and a box knife, right?
I bet STP (or maybe gear oil?) would work pretty good...plus, it would make the most expensive bar oil look like a bargain!
I've read all 7 pages of this thread and it amazes me. Now, I can understand using some other kind of oil in an emergency but there are people on here who spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on a chain saw and then try to save a buck by using any kind of junk oil in it that they can get their hands on. Peanut oil, used motor oil, hydraulic fluid, why not extra virgin olive oil or Crisco? Come on, somebody has to have tried that ....
Spend the extra couple of dollars and get the right oil for the job. End of story!!!
