Anybody like their R4 tires in snow

I must be about the only person that has no issues with R4's in the snow. I have a long drive and also a 90 ft long pole building with doors all down the length, so I plow a lot. Now my drive is gravel but I simply do not have problems. Heavy wet snows are somewhat of a pain at times, but I gotta tell you that I am quite happy to have a tractor, (even with those dreaded R4 tires), as the alternative is a shovel!
Nope not so, 22 years with R4's (and chains) never ever a problem pushing snow. Last year with the 2320...

Brrrrrr! You guys out clearing snow without a cab make me cold just looking at the pictures! I bring a coat just in case I have to get out, but I don't do any snow clearing jobs if they require me to get out of my cab. :)

My R4's seem to be OK in snow, but I don't have a steep drive or anything. They do spin a lot in gravel and sand when pushed, but that is to be expected.

Mine do great with the chains on. Never tried them w/o chains.

I run my R4's and run in 4 wheel drive all winter without chains and we get tons of snow. (Already had over 40" in past week). As we get more snow later in the season I'll add my 800 lb. rear ballast but that's all I use. Most driveways I plow are flat / level. Only one driveway I do goes uphill on about a 15-20 degree slope for about 100'. For that driveway I drive through the snow up to the top of the hill with the loader up and push the snow downhill. I've been plowing with this tractor for 6 years now. I can't push snow uphill with the tractor (I get about half way up) but then again I couldn't plow this driveway going uphill with a 3/4T 4x4 truck either. Always had to drive up first and push snow down.

Also want to mention my neighbors tractor with AG tires cannot plow this driveway going uphill either.

Yea if you like a pair of skis !!! Put chains on no problem ! Sliding down my concrete drive sideways toward garage doors no fun !! Or trying to blow or plow the neighbors concrete drive and set there spinning a no go !!

I plow one mile of private road with my current tractor a JD 4400 with R1 tires on it. The attached photo (if I did it correctly) shows the rather steep hill at the beginning of that road. With light snow I can plow up and down the hill but with heavier snow I can only plow down due to tire slippage. The tires are not loaded. I have a Land Pride back blade on the tractor as well as a Curtis blade on the FEL. I have a JD3720 on order that will come with large R4 tires that will be loaded. It will be a great chance to evaluate the two on this hill.

Like everything else... we all have to base decisions on our individual circumstances!

Cold, dry snow conditions and reasonably flat areas - R4's will do the job.

Wet, heavy snow with patches of ice or hilly areas - R4's are a carnival ride!

I have ALL of those various conditions during the course of 6 months of below freezing temperatures in my area of Alaska. And I've lived up here for nearly 34 years...

Chains and more chains! All four tires - please - with V-bars on the front wheels for steering control.

Chuck on lake - does that STOP sign at the bottom of the hill - really mean stop... or can you just kinda glide thru it? :D

Good eyes!!!

Jeez!! I don't think I'd want to plow down that slope!
