firearm attachment-is there such a thing?

I guess if I felt the need to carry on my tractor Id mount a 50 caliber across the loader arms and stuff a couple of claymores under the seat.

i figure it shouldn't be long now before we see the first loader-mounted barrett attachment. the big question will be if they just pin it to the loader arms, or whether they go all out and opt for the ssqa mount.

The 50- Cal would be ok. on a SSQA but I thing a 30 Mil Vulcan cannon would be a lot better, and since most CUTs dont have a lot of extra electrical power to spare, I think the GAU-8 30 Millimeter Cannon should be retro-fitted with a hydraulic drive instead of an electric drive motor. We have a lot more hydraulic on tap than electric. Now a true third function control would be the best instead of a Diverter, as you could fire the gun while the dump/curl and raise/lower functions were in use and with split brakes, you could have a "slewing" function at the same time. All the more reason to have a Hydrostatic drive system as your hands are going to be full with the loader/gun controls and cannot be shifting any old gears:laughing: Now, I want to see pictures of the first guy to build one on a SSQA plate.:D
There, I think I covered that pretty well.;)

i've never shot a 'people' either.. but plenty of wildlife.

I can tell you for sure there is a world of difference shooting a feeder pig 3' away while it stands there sniffing the ground and you can get a good shot behind the ear.. vs one rooting in the woods 100yds away thru brush. I HAVE killed a pig/hog with a 22.. when it was hit right. I've also seen 22's run around the skull and exit the skin on the other side leaving a mad wild hog. I've cleaned hogs with small slugs and pellet shot STUCK in their fat shield. Since MY LIFE depends on a weapon I carry for safety.. when i go hunting.. I carry my anaconda, or something else large.. less chance of a glancing shot or whatever.
All you manly men can depend on your .22lr for safety.. but when hog-zilla runs out of the weeds at 300-600#.. I want something that will blow a skull in even if I hit it off angle....

:)

I'm not into man vs wild and I don't go hunt hogs with a sharpend stick... :) :)

no reason NOT to carry the very best when your life depends on it..

Knock down power or not? I've heard those arguments for over 46 years. Now I've not personally shot any hogs or people either, but when I was a kid, I saw plenty of domestic hogs killed for meat, and every one of them was shot with a .22 rifle. In more recent times, I met some guys who hunted the feral hogs with dogs. They killed the hogs with a .22 pistol.

And during my police career, I saw both suicides and murders committed with .22 pistols. It doesn't take a big piece of lead if it's applied to the right location. Incidentally, my old department now issues 9mm Sig Sauer P226 handguns. Personally, I qualify with a 9mm, but my favorites are still my old Smith & Wesson .38 special pistols.

A good shot behind the ear??? I've never seen that done. It was always right between the eyes. But I'll agree that I wouldn't want to go hunting wild hogs with a .22. In fact, I'd much prefer a rifle myself, and in a larger caliber. But for personal protection, I don't figure I need a canon. Of course, the fact of the matter is that most of us will never need any kind of gun (Thank Goodness), but if I ever do have to shoot a human, it'll be close enough range that a 9mm or .38 will be more than adequate.

When I was a youngster we had hog killing every year. I remember it so well had to carry water for the vat. The whole community would get together and we would help each other. Some guys had troubles killing hogs and would make them squeal. My dad finally got the job of shooting them. I have seen him shoot no telling how many they dropped dead in their tracks EVERY TIME with a 22.
I hated it when they shot my pet hog. But, we ate them and never took anything in the wild that we could not use for food. I don't know why that some don't use a 155 howitzer that would get them for sure:D In seriousness, I think anything my 308 and my P38 won't kill and others I have, I don't need to be hunting. In close quarter use a legal limit 12 guage shotgun, it is devastating. I agree with some I don't think that killing something just for the fun of taking life is ethical.

that 22 that slid around the skull.. that happened to a friend of mine i was standing 10' from him when he shot the hog.. and it was a square sot inthe forehead between the eyes... told myself that day that 22 was for plinking.

for personal carry I have a .380 it's a lil light.. but with the good ammo out today.. and at close range for self defense. i like it.. it's easy to conceal.. and alot better than a knife or fist-a-cuffs.. :)

I'll get you a Barrett mount picture tomorrow. I prefer the cab roof mount, personally. It gets you some down angle. A loader mount? Does that mean you have to dismount your seat to sight in your target? Hope not...

I'll show it under a new thread named for a worn out cliche' that's been buggin' me lately....

James, I think you're on to something. Imagine the time saved when logging or cutting firewood. I'd never have to sharpen the chainsaw! 'Course I'd still wear my hearing protection. Safety first!

Yeah I figure this should make chain sawing obsolete, I am working on the 3pt ammo "tank" and the cartridge belt "chuteing" to get those big 30MM rounds up to the front end mount:laughing: And dont forget the TV camera/sighting system to allow you to remain in your seat and just use an LCD monitor to do the sighting function.:D Isn't it crazy what you can come up with when you let your mind wander on a lazy afternoon? I have fired several machine guns, but I have never even seen a rotary barreled "gatteling" type cannon, or Minigun, let alone fire one. I would like to tho.:D I need to get to be friends with Mike Dillon I guess. I have one of his reloading presses, I wonder if that would cut any ice? Oh well, just having fun thinking out-loud.
