In Colorado you can have an open carry pistol (loaded) in a motor vehicle (includes atv/utv -- never considered looking if it includes tractors), but not a loaded long gun or a strung bow. That's off your property rules. Open carry is legal in any case, but you probably ought to consider not doing so in the PDR of Denver or some other high density areas without expecting some harassment.
Face to face is legal in Colorado as well. Though the Kalifornication is growing, it hasn't happened to affect firearms much. CCW is a 'shall issue' here, along with the 'make my day' law (similar to the Castle Doctrine).
That being said, my CCW happens to cover my slightly out of spec knife. Good point someone made.
If you hunt with a license, and if you post on the web, data mining will find you. You will be assimilated.
For the machete crowd, check out the Woodsman's Pal. I have the Vietnam era unit. I think this one would be perfect: Woodman's Pal Long Reach Machete with Wood Handle & Cordura Sheath
As for me, unless my wife ultimately 'steals it' (it has been threatened) a Ruger LCR (38+p, original model) fits the pocket well for summer wear. I wear cargo shorts and usually put my cell or something (there's always something to carry) in the front pocket to break up the print. And use something similar to the Desantis holster. For winter: M&P 40. Twice the round count. A real skinny buddy of mine wears a pocket .380 365 days a year. Takes a bunny here and there to blow out the pocket fuzz.
We will import a snake (in the road) if it isn't poisonous. Rattlers -- they have to go goodbye!
