Loader issue

Having a problem with my John Deere 4300 loader. It has recently stopped going higher than 4 feet. It also will not lift the front wheels when the lift is forced down. Pressure relief problem? Ideas? not sure where to to start. The fluid level is fine but there seems to be no power. Help appreciated.

Welcome to TBN

99% of the time these problems are related to the QD's (quick disconnects) They can "look" seated all the way when they are really not. The best solution is to unplug them all, wide them clean (Spray WD40 in the females to wash them out) and the reconnect the back together. My :2cents: says this will solve your problem.

I will try that. However, they have not been disconnected in a while. It was working fine then stopped. What you are saying makes perfect sense but it moves up and down fine at the current range of motion as well as the bucket tilt working. The problems are it goes up to around four feet and stops as well as I can not put any down pressure what so ever. Not to back drag or anything. Seems like its not holding pressure. It will lift weight fairly well to the four foot level but that is it. Thanks for the input.

I would suggest you could TEE into your lines out where it is easy and see what kind of pressure you can develop. The 4 ' height limit does make sence if you can not develop enough pressure.

I will try that. However, they have not been disconnected in a while. It was working fine then stopped.

I had that happen (disconnect come unseated) on my Kubota for no apparent reason. Just happened and hasn't happened since. That would be what I would check first. Don't just look at them. Unplug and plug them back together to be sure.

I had the same problem on my 3120. After much research it turned out to be exactly as kennyd describes above. I had not ever disconnected my quick connects but by pushing big piles of debris somehow they were disengaged. My loader worked but would only go up to about 4 foot and did not have much pressure. Thanks Guys, it did the trick. kennyd was on the money. tratliff reminded me as I was pushing up a burn pile the other day and assume the same thing happened. Saved me a lot of grief and troubleshooting to come to such a quick fix. For me it was one of those duh moments. I really appreciate the help.

That is a good tip on the quick disconnect when it is not taken apart for a long time. I had a different kind of problem I had an implement that was last used in cool weather and it was now summer. It would not plug into the female socket on the tractor for anything. The ball would not push down so I wrapped a clean cloth around the end and banged the ball with a firm piece of oak wood. Evertime I hit it, it released oil under pressure it then pushed on fine.
