Yes, around 40k for the operation of which I paid about 6k out of pocket-insurance the rest.
I guess 6k is better than nothing but still a lot of out of pocket. I already told the surgeon no way I will do three therapy sessions a week. My copay went from 30 to 40 a visit for specialists. I may have to be flexible on that the first week or so but I would like to get it down to once a week.

I hope that all goes well for you. I've had that done also-- three times. Be diligent in your physical thearpy.

I was in the hospital for about 5 hours for my ruptured Achilles tendon surgery. Most of that time was spent waiting. Actual surgery was 30-45 minutes. Recovery was maybe an hour.

$25k, which my insurance covered 100% since it was within the first 72 hours of an 'accidental injury'. I was VERY lucky that it ruptured on a Tuesday and my doctor's 'surgery day' just happened to be Thursday. As I recall, PT was $20 after insurance paid their share. I only had to go 2-3 times a week for 2 or 3 weeks. It was all stuff that could easily be done at home.

60 bucks a pop for me, twice a week...

it does help ease the pain/trouble of 3 times a week PT.....if she's really cute. Didn't have to be cute...just a she. It helps...:)

FWIW..my PT was 50 miles away. The co-pay was as much as the gas for my 360cu/in dodge pickup.:( everything up here is 50 miles away.

Keep an open mind on how many PT sessions you're going to do a week, until you do a few weeks. Than reassess. Sorry to nag. Been there. Also I had to take 8 weeks off from work. I am a self-employed truck driver. had to hire a driver for 8 weeks. Money was being spent in every direction. But, for me, it was well worth it.

I did not think to ask the surgeon about clothing. He said my arm will be in a sling. I will call the office on Monday for advise but I am thinking no pull overs of any kind. I can wrench and all with my left hand but I am dreading using it for "other activities". Been kind of trying things out and it's not pretty.

I had used an extremely over sized shirt. Shirt went over arm in a sling. My sling also strapped around my midsection, was not to move the arm at all.

Well, I had my surgery yesterday. The op took four hours being complicated by me having put it off and my bones being too soft. I have not had issues with breaking anything but must be calcium deficient from avoiding milk. My surgeon had to put some kind of steel pin in. Last night was a bit rough but the nerve block and the percocet are helping.

We were hoping to beat the snow but the extended op time screwed that up. We maybe only had two inches total but it was wet and heavy and very greasy to drive on.

As we neared our left turn off the four lane state road, my position away from the passenger door allowed a good view out of the right rear view mirror. A van followed by a car were passing. The van pulled over behind us perhaps to let the car by then went back out to pass us going into a skid along side of us. With the right rear of the van barely missing us the van skidded off the road and onto the swale like berm. The front of the van was about 10 o'clock and the rear about 4 o'clock with the 12 o'clock being straight ahead.

I dont know if the van driver misjudged our slower speed and moved over to fast or just simply lost it. Anyway, that swale rolled him right on over upside down.

I could see everyone else coming to a stop more or less as my wife slowed. With our left now there I told her to make it and pull into a gas station right there. Had she stopped on the shoulder, we would have been a good distance away for her to back up. She has balance problems and took a bad fall on ice not long ago so I did not want her hoofing it. Nor did I want someone to slide into her or the pickup.

911 was busy at first with others calling. I got through though and explained all of this to the dispatcher. She said that the closeby EMT would be right there and took my info and sad we could continue. So far no phone call but I bet there are some people that think we are jerks.

We still had seven miles to drive culminating with two hills that can be bad. My wife is getting extremely upset as we neared the hills, one down then the other up so I had her pull over and I drove the rest of the way home.

We have a different way to get out that should have been cleaned by now so we are going to try to make my 2pm therapy appointment.
