Rotator Cuff Surgery?

Hope you do well, did they make an incision or use a scope, I've had both and the scope is a piece of cake compared to the incision. Just got home about 4:00 from having hip surgery with a scope, the pain meds are great.:licking:

Hope the recovery goes well for both of you.

It's a fairly long recovery to get back to 100%. The hardest part is the routine of physical therapy. Having to drive to the therapy place at least a couple times a week. You have to fit it into your life for the next few months. No choice really...

Best of luck with your surgery...I had the same done 3years ago..Don't regret it at all.First 2 weeks will be the worse..go to all your physical therapy..help yourself. It will be a full year for recovery, don't try to rush it.

jwatt51 and milkman, hope you two are doing all right. The pain meds don't agree with me too well. I usually with my head in the bucket after taking them, ugh!

Going for bloodwork tomorrow because it's been awhile so I can see where I am at there then to my regular doc next week for a little check over and to see who he can refer me too for the shoulder. I hope to get set up ASAP because I can no longer reach the rear view mirror in my pickup without a lot of pain. I sold my FL70 today to have a little extra money stashed away and I won't be able to use it anyway.

I guess I have my ducks in a row except I have not let on at my work place yet. Though he pretends not to be, my boss is vindictive and like many work places these days, they rely on to few people to do too many things. It's not for spite that I am going out and not to blow my horn but I figure it may be a time of appreciation for what I do.

Been thinking about biting the bullet and getting my shoulder repaired. I am concerned about the downtime both short term and long. By short term I mean being able to toss a bale of hay down from the mow, etc. with my good arm of course. My insurance is going up from 30 bucks a specialist visit to 40 in 2011. Think the doctors will allow me one visit a week if I work it out on my own? No way I want to go the usual three times a week at 40/per. I have been through knee surgery under workmans comp and they let me go with once a week when they saw I was doing good by myself. Any hints on what will help me recover? Thanks.

Don't have the time to read the whole thread. I had mine done 2 yrs ago. Could not lift my arm 20%. Had a SOB of a time just to button my pants! drive truck for a living, had to keep hand on the shifter.

Surgery went well, but i did as I was told afterwords. Which was not easy!! i would highly recommend doing the PT. Don't short cut it. They know what they are doing. Was out for 2 months. I'm self employed, had to hire a driver, and pay high deducts as i have to pay for all of my insurance costs. Was not cheap. But, it's fixed right. If you short cut your PT, you have a very likely chance you will end up worse off than before. You will have many weeks after the required PT to do your own PT. Trust me.

Thats my 2 cents

Also, don't try to do tasks with your good arm. You will inadvertantly reinjury the bad arm. Stuff happens that you don't plan on. And quite frankly, you'll be in enough pain after the surgery, you won't do much afterwords.

One positive note. While on the good meds for the short time after the surgery.....my wife tells me i was one happy SOB. She misses those days:thumbsup:

A good physical therapist will show you exersises you can do at home,I don't mean to skip, but all you can do your-self will help. You don't want a frozen shoulder. It takes time...it will come back. Again best of luck.
