In the Kubota line, what is yuppie and what is real?

I have a friend that has a Dodge Hemi - classic Charger- and she calls the Corvette crowd the "Tupperware Boys"!

With all the plastic on today's CUTs, maybe the term also applies. . .

I wonder about the "crusty old farmer"? My cousin and his children run a 700 acre dairy farm, milking 225 cows. That is a respectable size here in the Northest. He is 62 years old, maybe not a "crusty old farmer" but certainly not a yuppie- and has been farming full-time since he was 18. The family has always used JD tractors. Just this month they purchased a 7930-after sitting in the cab for 15 minutes, I don't think I discovered all the "yuppie" features.

The family however, mows the grass with a BX 2200. The family also has a RTV 500, a RTV 900, and a RTV 1100 for the use around the land. A son-in-law also owns a Ford 2120 that sees use at times.

I think the "crusty old farmer" may be someone who has not changed with the times, and does not realize the state of modern agriculture.

This was a long read. I can't wait for Spring to use the tractor, whatever kind I have, for something besides snow plowing.

I am the only one on my block with a Kubota and quite frankly I don't care if I am a yuppie or not. And when the plows failed to provide the services that our tax dollars paid for.

If I had an L/M series I would have done it faster but I then I couldnt mow my neighborhoods lawns. I will keep my BX!

Firstly, Kubota tractors, when they were first imported, were the tractors that "real" Japanese farmers used on their smaller farms. I don't even think that the BXs were originally designed for the American suburbanite, but are basically "real" Japanese farm tractors designs dolled up for the US "yuppie" market. Japanese non-farmers don't live on acres of land, from what I have been told.

Picked up some hay from my local, crusty farmer, and asked him about his tractors. He suggested staying away from tractor models that are designed for yuppies, and priced accordingly. He suggested getting a farmer's tractor that would be priced for a farmer's budget.

Perhaps he was not familiar with the Farming Tractors some folks use and would probably apply the term "Yuppie" to anyone who lived more than five miles away!:laughing:

I think as far as the Kubota line the B2920 and up are real tractors. My answer is subject to change if I ever upgrade however!

Seriously, get the one that you want and don't pay attention to anyone else. Are you are farmer?
