Neighbor's dobermans on my land, protecting "their" property ...??

Your neighbors dogs probably ran your property for years, before you owned it.
The dogs don't understand and the neighbor sounds like he is anoyed at what is going on.
You can't shoot the neighbors dog, unless you want an enemy for life.
I would lix the fence and carry pepper spray, just in case.
Pepper spray stops a grizzly instantly, so the dobermans shuould be no problem...

And the plot thickens ... imagine explaining things to an attorney!! Even when your paying $150 an hr they don't want to listen!!!

Good luck on finding at attorney that works for $150 an hour!!

Pepper spray sounds like a good idea in case of emergency but getting to know the dogs is a a better long term solution. Yea, a person would be in the right legally for killing any of their neighbors beloved pets that set foot on their property. But in my opinion, with maybe some exceptions, thats a pretty sorry way to handle the situation.

At least talk to your neighbor first. We live in the country and have two dogs, one year old and 4 months old. The older dog started to roam about a month ago and I knew he was leaving our property. I started installing an invisible fence last Monday in order to keep them contained to the property. Last Tuesday both dogs took off. This is what I was greeted with upon the dogs return. Someone shot our 4 month old through the front left leg. I have a very good idea who did it but have no way to prove it. A simple phone call would have been appreciated and I could have let them know the problem was being address. Completed the fence install today and will start training tomorrow.

Not within 100 yards of the front porch!

:D

I would check your county ordinance and see what the regulation really states. If you had to shoot the dog and they cited you, oh well, go to court. Better to be given a piece of paper than chewed on by that dog. My guess is that the ordinance would be a fine and nothing more.

As you saw the officer was not interested in following the ordinance. :D:D:D:D So there are exceptions.

The story was very funny,, but also very scary.

Later,
Dan
