you dont have to repair drive shafts on the NH because of the module design, with the shear hubs, etc. if you hit something it is 10 minutes of changing a $30 to $40 dollar shear hub and off you go. but for 3 years that is warranty anyway......

What drives each module 1 long hexagon drive shaft or have they came up with another way to drive the pods? Ken Sweet

NH, Deere, Kuhn, and probably everyone else in the industry have a similarly designed failure point.

I believe the NH design is the way to go.
I do see what Ken is saying about the Fort. It brakes away if you hit something. That's ok if just the blade hub is damaged. But if something happens deeper into the bar....Hmmmm.
And with my luck, it would!

If something happens between the pinion gears, like a idler gear or bearing goes out, we can repair that in about 2 hours. Ken Sweet

no they have individual shafts that runs from each module to the other not one long shaft the runs the lent of the cutter bar like the old bushhog hay cutters

Deere has 'Shear Hubs' NH has 'Shock Pro Hubs' Kuhn has 'Protectadrive'.

Neighbour has one of the NH shear hubs, he's been disappointed in how easily they shear, and how far they go. He's lost a few already.

Thats why I like the Massey Ferguson (New Idea). It also runs on segmented shafts. undo two bolts to split it and put it back together. They have been running these for years and is pretty much what everybody used in my area.
Just had to throw that in.

he must be having some other issues going on. all of our customers can go at least a season or two without shearing any at all.

i have never sheared one on mine but then i try and only cut fields that i have walked and no there is nothing in there
